Re: Setup FM mobile VHF transceiver's deviation with VaraFM
I am not sure if you can do the measurement with the VaraFM modem, the frequency of the tone has to be at the frequency that is required to get a null in the spectrum for the desired deviation.

Re: Setup FM mobile VHF transceiver's deviation with VaraFM
Also be aware that even at -10dBm, which is well below the damage level, the TinySA may still be slightly overloaded and not give accurate results on some measurements. At least 60db of attenuation

Re: Setup FM mobile VHF transceiver's deviation with VaraFM
I¡¯d skip trying to manufacture a tone equivalent to the modulation and then bessel dip spotting. It will never tell you what you need to know
Use normal modulation and look at the resulting

Since FW version 1.4171 where it was fixed that Big number was displayed on remote desktop, on the #ultra screen when Big number is activated, when accessing the menu again it stops doing scans

Re: Setup FM mobile VHF transceiver's deviation with VaraFM
Todd,
You need 50 dB of external attenuation to keep the level at the Ultra at -10dBm or less. You also might be able to use the supplied antenna with your radio feeding a dummy load. You cannot use

Re: Setup FM mobile VHF transceiver's deviation with VaraFM
Hi Gary:
Thanks for the reply. So, can I use the VaraFM modem SW to apply to the 6 pin Mini din connector on the icom 208H? Adjust the amplitude to get the null on the carrier. What about just

Re: Setup FM mobile VHF transceiver's deviation with VaraFM
Todd,
Use a single tone and adjust the frequency for an expected Bessel null at the desired deviation and then adjust the level of the tone until you get the null. That tone level will be the correct

Setup FM mobile VHF transceiver's deviation with VaraFM
Does anyone have a procedure to setup FM deviation on a mobile VHF transceiver using a Ultra? The mode will be VaraFM Wide protocol.

Re: Display color dump
Since this device modifies the original tinySA ULTRA circuitry, tinySA ULTRA's software is unable to set up the hardware circuitry correctly, so you will not be able to use tinySA ULTRA's firmware.

Use the menu CONFIG/VERSION to get the version screen
Pictures of both the VERSION screen and the label on the back of the case will help me to identify what is wrong

Hi Jouke, can you please send a picture of the version interface and a picture of the label on the back of the machine, the firmware of the tinySA ULTRA will automatically read the hardware version

Could someone post the default color dump. After an update all the colours on my SA ultra have changed in a more or less black/white screen.

Re: Zeenko ZK05-BM LNA Input Overload Survivability?
I would start with much more attenuation than you think you need and then back it off. Signals are cleaner when they come out around -40dbm.
When I experiment with an HT and using the SA antenna I

Re: Zeenko ZK05-BM LNA Input Overload Survivability?
Greetings,
Thanks for the responses! Good to know +20dBm (ie 100mW) is the danger zone limit. As 5W is roughly +37dBm the minimum aggregate path loss with a 3dB safety factor should be at least
