Oops, release removed

Re: New FW release: Marker peak and caloutput commands added

Hello erik, selftest 9 failed.

New FW release: Marker peak and caloutput commands added

New FW release
Version V1.0-91

Changes:
- MEASURE menu splitted over two menus so the BACK option is visible
- marker {id} peak console command added.?
- caloutput console command added

The marker peak command will make the {id} marker active, position it on the strongest signal and output the marker info
The caloutput command disables or sets the output frequency in MHz
The wiki is updated with these new commands

Serial over USB does not work with baud setting. It always works with highest speed

Re: Serial over USB command list started

Erik:

RealTerm on Windows 10 does not recognize the tinySA COMM port for some reason. ?I have seen this issue with other programs as well.

TeraTerm works fine.

I suspect the sh does autobaud ?detect? ?I used 9600 bps and it worked.

You might consider adding something to the Wiki about the setup for the serial console ( 8 bits, NP, 9600 bps)?

BTW: checked the calibration my tinySA at 30 MHz versus the calibration port on my HP SA. ?

The difference was .3 dBm !!

Re: Delay due to damage

The tracking on my Amazon order still shows the original arrival dates so I am watching with interest to see if new dates will be given.

I look forward to doing some comparisons with my antique Tektronix 7L12 SA / TR 502 and Marconi TF2720 SA / TG when (if?) the tinySA arrives.

Thank you Erik for a fascinating instrument.

That is about +3dBm. If you set the internal attenuator to 30dB you should be ok for harmonics measurement

hello there just one quick question ......is 2.5 milli watts too high of a input to measure harmonics on the low input on the tiny sa? as im not sure this is the first time in useing this.. i no it has a inntinuator on the sa i will put this on auto not yet tested the harmonic im waiting on your reply as i dont want to put too much rf in ..if u can reply soon as that be great...

Re: Delay due to damage

Hi Erik and Herb

This is a copy of what I received via Amazon UK.

I had held back from buying a tinySA until it was advertised on Amazon UK as I prefer buying items that way. Erik mentioned a few weeks ago that Amazon would be a source?for the?tinySA at the end of August. . The only Amazon seller was the one I used, that is dexuan. I followed the tracking which?said the tiny was in transit. The expected delivery date was Sept 18th to Sept 23rd, a very short?time. The attached information arrived today Sept 17th.?
The order was made on Sept 12th. and it?went?through Amazont smoothly.

I have decided to wait for a new tinySA and hope this arrives one day.

I just this is all genuine. What do you think?

Cancel my order.
Agree to wait longer for a replacement.
I agreed to the latter but do not know the? delivery date as yet.

Let us hope this situation is unusual and packaging will be satisfactory in future.

? The way the tinySA is packaged in a box with molded packaging it would be very difficult for the tinySA to be damaged during shipment.? Possibly the shipping container? was damaged by some heavy handed postal workers.?

? Also, case damage is a common excuse for sellers who over commit and can't fill an order.? Three of my club members had their orders canceled because the seller did not receive as many tinySA's as he had ordered.

Re: Serial over USB command list started

The wiki list is complete for now.

As you can see many commands are identical to those used in the nanoVNA.

Re: Delay due to damage

Philip,
I assume you did see the "where to buy" page on the wiki

and here you can see how the tinySA sold directly from Hugen are packaged

The seller Dexuan is unknown to me.

Serial over USB command list started

I started adding the serial over USB command list (console commands) to the wiki

Any feedback if this information is sufficient for someone that wants to use this?

Just send the content to me and I will add it.
Don't bother about formatting

Thanks for the info, Herb.

Will try the serial interface. ?

Link of tinySA.org. ?

Will the SA firmware run correctly if it doesn't see the display and touch input??
The display should not be a problem but you may have to solder some resistors to get the X/Y touch input in the right state (e.g. not touched)
Never has been tested

Maybe as Igor suggested the behavior after exiting the 'measure' menu should be to return to the previous user set-up.
This can be implemented but you will also lose any change in setting you did after starting with the measurement so that is not perfect.?
The other alternative is to only do a limited deactivation of the measure setup. Which still may be difficult to understand.
How do other SA deal with this?

Come to think of it after completing automated measurements on a HP8568 I had to push the <instr preset> button to return to normal operations.? That is actually pretty much what you are doing now.? I also stored my settings in a register on the HP8568 prior to running an automated measurement so that I could recall them.

Probably the primary issue was lack of the 'back' button for exiting the measure menu.
