Maximum tinySA Ultra input levels
Erik,
? The main Wiki page shows the following image for the tinySA Ultra: ![]() The input maximum RF level is labeled as +10dBm and maximum DC voltage as 10VDC.? On the delivered tinySA Ultra's, the input maximum RF level is labeled as +6dBm and maximum DC voltage as 5VDC. Was there a particular reason the delivered units had their input RF and voltage levels derated? Herb |
Re: TinySA Ultra screen misaligned
I opened mine up and shifted the screen. It is attached with a small ribbon and nothing to actually hold it in place. Maybe the front has a slight indent? I just moved it around and made sure the front was in proper position, buttoned it back up. Nothing difficult. Tim? K4SHF On Fri, Dec 2, 2022 at 11:01 AM nechry <nechry@...> wrote:

TinySA Ultra screen misaligned
I ordered the Tinysa ultra at 19th November from Zeenko store, Aliexpress, China, and the instrument just arrived to my hands. after turning it on, I quickly noticed that the screen is not well aligned in the case. it is almost impossible to read the entire last line at the bottom of the screen. I have attached this photo. Do I have to open and modify the alignment myself, without losing the guarantee? what are my options. ? Apart from this anomaly, I congratulate you once again for this excellent product, Erik, I already have 2 first generation tinySA. |
Poor 30 Mhz reading after calibration
Hello everyone,
I calibrated my new tinySA after it successfully passed all self tests. After the calibration finished (without any indication of a problem), I fed the 30 Mhz calibration generator signal to the low input to check if everything is ok. The reading was -27.4 dB @ 30.2 Mhz, and I think that's a bit to low to pass as ok. Is there anything I can do about this? As to the question if my unit is genuine, I am not 100% sure. I made my purchase before becoming aware of the clone issue, and the place I bought it from? is not among the licensed vendors according to the wiki. On the other hand, the back plate checks out, but I guess it still could be fake. I highly appreciate any suggestion how to proceed. I wish all of you a nice day! Matthias |
Re: HT Power reading
Also, I believe Jim Allyn - N7JA said, "I think of it this way: male in means you can screw the attenuator directly on to the transmitter output."? I will say that while this proves true for my Yaesu, what got me confused initially is that for the Baofeng I was testing it's the male connector coming out of the HT. Brian |
Re: HT Power reading
Just wanted to provide a bit of a follow-up.? I received the new attenuator and did the same readings.
95.1 ohms center to center
center to ground:? 48.8 & 48.5 ohms (readings from both sides which is good)
These results are definitely promising compared to what I was getting last time.? I also looked more at the product page for the attenuator and it says:?? SMA male to SMA female ( male is?input?and female is output)
The image below is of the attenuator.? The colored caps came on it and the red one is covering the male side which is supposed to be the input.? ?Red = high W I shall post my tinySA results once I get a chance. Brian |
Re: TinySA ULTRA calibration reset error
Thanks for the clarification!

Re: TinySA ULTRA calibration reset error
Only a limited set of parameters (Attenuation, start/stop freq) is restored back to before shutdown, all others come from STORE AS STARTUP
But after startup you can do LOAD STARTUP to restore everything back to the saved startup configuration -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
Re: TinySA ULTRA calibration reset error
开云体育The startup function itself doesn't work somehow, when TinySA is turned on it always sets the last state before shutdown and it doesn't matter what was saved STORE AS STARTUP. Mirek

Re: TinySA ULTRA calibration reset error
开云体育Thank you for the very quick reply, Eric! I did CLEAR CONFIG according to your advice and the behavior is as it should be, it is ok! But it is OK only until I set the range from 1 to 100 MHz and
save it as STORE AS STARTUP. After that, the behaviour is the same
as before, i.e. bad. Mirek

Can you do a CONFIG/MORE/CLEAR CONFIG and do the tests again so see if anything changed? |
Re: TinySA ULTRA calibration reset error
开云体育Hi, Erik! When I turn on TinySA, Ultra Mode is marked as on. When I turn Ultra Mode off and on again, the sensitivity on the upper band is OK! The error is therefore in the UltraMode reset. And indeed, when I turn on TinySA, even when UltraMode is on, it
cannot set frequencies above 800 MHz Thanks, Mirek

Re: TinySA ULTRA calibration reset error
I can't replicate this.?
The loss of sensitivity above 800MHz indicates the device does not switch to ultra mode when asked to scan above 800MHz. Can you disable/enable ultra mode after loading the preset and check if the sensitivity above 800MHz comes back? -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |

Re: Rotate Display 90 degrees?
#feature_request
Making the screen width/height variable will lead to substantial increase in code size and lower the speed of display updates.
This will not have a high priority -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
