Re: New FW release: Quick up/down buttons for frequency and level

Erik,

Thanks for implementing the step function in the LO output.? Works great!?

The step in the LO frequency was also a good idea.?

Re: Narrow band FM tone adjustment?

OK I downloaded and installed the latest firmware, and am delighted to have the variable frequency feature for FM output.? Couple of questions....

1) Judging by the sound on an FM receiver, when I input lower modulation tones such as 123 Hz etc I am assuming it uses a square wave, since the overtones are quite prominent. Is that correct?
2) When going back and forth between the screens to change the frequency and modulation the unit quickly locks up and no longer is responsive, so I have to power cycle it.? Is that a typical behavior?

Hard to complain since this is such a powerful and inexpensive device, but would be reassuring to know my unit is "typical".

Re: Narrow band FM tone adjustment?

Thank you - definitely I need to look into how to update the firmware then.

Re: Narrow band FM tone adjustment?

WIth the later FW's you can adjust the modulation? frequency so you may need to upgrade the FW

Narrow band FM tone adjustment?

Have barely used mine so far, so don't laugh, and pardon my laziness for not watching all of the videos, in a bit of a hurry...

Started trying the narrow band FM output to check my 2m receiver.? Is there a way to adjust the frequency of the tone when modulating the narrow FM signal?? And also, what is the default tone frequency that is output?

Re: New FW release: Quick up/down buttons for frequency and level

Yep. Forgot to clear screen after display test. Is gone when selftest finishes.

Hello Erik,
the modification for level and frequency output works well. But, photo attached,

I noticed at the end of self test some graphic lines at the bottom of the display never seen before.

I attached the screen shot from ebay. Juts copy the title and search on ebay.
As far as the switch mod, it was actually posted in the files on the NanoVNA I will look it up and send the file to you.
Please return your personal email address do I can send it to you.

Re: Self Test Fail

I have bought a second Tinysa (as a spare/ in case I misly one.......).

I was a bit hesitant about clones and also the huge extra to pay now the UK is outside Europe. I chose what seemed to be a UK selker, with UK stock and short (5 day) delivery time, on Fleabay, for ?52 delivered.

It arrived in 4 days (today) and I immediately did the self-test...
? It passed.
I ?immediately sent positive feedback to the seller and as mine is probably old stock, (it has the small spurs which can be supressed with three tiny capacitors) warned him of clones on further stocking, as he seems to be a general, not specialist electronics seller. He is ¡°m_s_store¡±

New FW release: Quick up/down buttons for frequency and level

New FW release
Version v1.1-80

Changes:
- The Low output level button is split in 4 quick up/down buttons and a "set" button to activate the keypad. The slider works as before
- The Output Freq button is split in 4 quick up/down buttons and a "set" button to activate the keypad. The slider works as before and the up/down buttons take their value from the set "RANGE" (use long touch away from slider as before)

These changes are especially convenient for those that use the tinySA in output mode and are used to physical up/down buttons.

The very small text indicates the change when touching above the small text and touching above "set" activates the keypad as previously.

I may have rushed this a bit as I needed this for a current project so if you spot a bug, let me know.

Re: tinySA with a larger screen

Patrice, if you go to Ali Express you will find many android tablets. I chose windows because it? was cheap on sale left over whatever and for the price of less than a dinner out I was willing to take the risk. It doesn't yet run my NanoVNA because its missing a DLL and I did not have time to hunt it down.

Unfortunately it seems Android tablets cost a little more but then there are 360 pages to go through if you do a search and I did not go through all of them. Don't expect to get the newest software with the cheap tablets but here is one I found that is under $100 and has a USB connector.?https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000188464109.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.59ae1948kCDSLD&algo_pvid=1def8988-34df-4dd3-99a5-9e0f95456960&algo_expid=1def8988-34df-4dd3-99a5-9e0f95456960-15&btsid=0bb0623916121071368461735e7e68&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

Re: Max input level

It depends
If you want to measure the OIP3 you should use the internal attenuator as high as possible while still seeing the intermodulation products as long as the input level to the tinySA is below 0dBm and you probably will end up with about 15dB attenuation.
But starting with 20dB is safe.

Suggest to watch these two video's?

Max input level

I have a -10 dbm Sample out from an RF amplifier. I see where the max input for the TinySa is -10. Would a 20 dB attenuator give me a reasonable level to the tinySA?
