Re: tinySA has been listed in Alibaba store
I also have ordered one. I saw that shipping was the same if I? ordered 1 or 2. If I had another friend that wanted one, I would of ordered 2, That was not the case here. But others may want to "group" buy..
Thanks for the product. Looking forward to using it..... especially to track RFI. Larry W8LM |
tinySA has been listed in Alibaba store
Dear community enthusiasts, we have manufactured a small amount of tinySA for sale and now sell it through the Alibaba store. If the community feedback is good, we will make more. The current logistics speed is slow, and the logistics cost for sending to some areas may be higher. If you don’t wait to test it, you can wait for us to manufacture it in large quantities and distribute it to overseas distributors. Purchase to save logistics costs.
Many thanks to Erik for creating the tinySA project and implementing it. Many thanks to the tinySA test group enthusiasts for providing great feedbacks. hugen 2020-07-23 |

Valid point, Dom, but counter to that, I like self-contained devices.
If the option of a 4" screen was available, that would be my choice, even if it meant a few quid more. / Gerry |

The authors of ISO 80000-3 managed to get most of the meat into that section… Too bad that the authors of IEC 80000-6 (which has the electrical units) didn’t. And when there is a small 's' letter, your problem will be very small and you won't see it on the 2.8" screen. BravoI’m not asking for a small letter, but the lower case letter s that has been the symbol for seconds for a century now. A capital S is also easy to mistake for a 5, and it blends in with the number that is preceding it. Even if there were a valid opportunity for choice, S is worse than s. Since kHz and dB/dBm are already spelled right and very visible, the above is a *very* weak argument. (Fortunately, there are few descenders here — that would be an actual problem, and that’s why it is quite acceptable to go for u instead of ?. If I actually were a purist, I would also note that there needs to be a space between the number and the unit, but I won’t.) Grü?e, Carsten |

Bravo Erik, please leave it at that, if only one person in Siemens thinks about it, it's still acceptable. Otherwise, the difference between the big 'S' and the small 's' will be so minimal, at least it WILL SEE. |

开云体育Nice!BTW, please do not use S, the abbreviation for Siemens (conductivity) for seconds (time), which are abbreviated s.? Thank you! Sent from?mobile, sorry for terse On 28. Jun 2020, at 13:34, Erik Kaashoek <erik@...> wrote:

TinySA as bandscope
The sweep time on lowest RBW for a span of 200kHz used to be 2 seconds. A bit slow for usage as a bandscope for 20m and 40m bands.
Using an experimental frequency setting schema I was able to reduce scan time to 0.5 seconds. Here are the bandscope pictures using this fast scanning (the indicated scan time is still the old scan time) There is still a small bug in the fast scanning causing the frequencies to be off by one RBW as you can see in the digital band under marker 1. The markers are tracking markers marking the 4 strongest signals and updated every scan of 0.5 seconds. 40 meters, directly connected to half size G5RV antenna 20 meters (using a 25dB amplifier, not really needed) |

No to add fuel to the fire but I will quote from your initial email below. You are the one that spoke, in no uncertain terms, about hams in general, not I, and everyone can see that. I did not do so. You can stand by your statements, which in my opinion sounded to me to be self serving.? I did not admonish you, that was not my intention but tried to point out that there are certainly hams that are as smart as you or I, and know their way around RF.? I am sorry that you mis-interpreted my response. Based upon my experience, of the hams that I know they have a thirst for knowledge about many things. I would think that is a good thing. So what if they?want to buy a product that they may know nothing about.? With the fraternity decreasing in numbers we need all the support that we can get. Don't you remember when you knew absolutely nothing about spectrum analyzers, or were you born with the ingrained knowledge? I'll bet?certainly?not, you had to learn all of?the?details one way or another. I am sure that sometime in your life you asked what others thought were "stupid questions". I certainly have So I would not have made a general statement as you did below. Perhaps you should have phrased it differently. "as the second something new comes out, the pig herd (hams) will run out and want one and they can't even spell spectrum or analyzer. In the USA we have a comment regarding them, "more money than brains"? In any case they will deplete units on the shelf, then bombard? the group with stupid questions. The downside to your journey to fame and fortune." So let's just "bury the hatchet" and part friends. I am sorry if my direct response?offended you. I consider the subject moot. Sam Reaves

I was specifically speaking of those irregardless of education or status in life- the ones who buy as soon as they find out there is a "new toy on the block" irregardless of need or want or ability to use.? Look at the NanoVNA forums as an example.. "I just bought a NanoVNA and how do you....." -THOSE PEOPLE. and they were there from the very beginning. That's all I know about them. ? All I was hinting at for the 1st production run, he consider some sort of "reservation" or Sales limit per customer.. After all I just might order 100. then resale them at 100% markup. He obviously is self funding his project and 1st production run will not be over 100. Once it's announced available, there will be a stampede ? Yet we all know, when the NanoVNA 1st came out there were shortages. You stating, "you to make such a careless general statement is harmful to the fraternity." is EXACTLY what YOU have specifically done to me.? Tell me just how is it harmful and whom have I harmed?? I'll wait... You know nothing of me, yet your pompous? self righteous attitude proves otherwise. What gives you the right to admonish me in "public"? I live in REALVILLE... I am not about to shut up and not speak out regarding some of the tactics and stupidity both on and off the ham bands.? I stand by my comments. So congratulations you surely put me in my place!!? NOT!! Next time I'm visiting my Wife and Son's grave in Inwood, I'll look you up....I usually stay in Winchester. |
Re: Screen size

I own both the 2.8 inch and 4 inch versions of the NanoVNA H and I can tell you I like the 4" much better. From R&L Electronics the 4 inch is only $10.00 more than the 2.8inch (about the cost of two cups of?coffee?from Starbucks). Well worth the extra. If Eric could work out something with Hugen and his source for the enclosure used for the NanoVNA H4 the pair of them would be a great combination. This is coming from someone who has repaired or used RF test gear professionally for over 40 years. Best regards, ? Sam Reaves
