Re: Linux Mint USB
#tinysa
Thanks Jim, I did that, the program opens but won't connect to the TinySA. I get this in the terminal window 2023-01-18 02:08:23,923 - TinySASaver.TinySASaver - ERROR - Tried to open /dev/ttyACM0 and failed: [Errno 13] could not open port /dev/ttyACM0: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/dev/ttyACM0' For some reason in the TinySA program the USB port is /dev/ttyACM0 but there is no communication with the unit and I did rescan and I get /dev/ttyACM0 again no communication when I press Connect. I have the TinySA Ultra on the way from RL Electronics and would like for that to work. Forgot to mention this wiki entry that explains how calibration above 5.34GHz is done:?

Simplest is not to enable the LNA and everything will be correct

Did you input a 5.34GHz signal between -50 and -10dBm when calibrating above 5.34GHz?

"CALIBRATE above 5.34GHz" throws a "Signal level too low or not on frequency" error
#bug_report
I just purchased a tinySA from one of the vendors listed at tinysa.org. When running the "CALIBRATE above 5.34GHz", the test throws a "Signal level too low or not on frequency" error.
?
"CALIBRATE 100kHz to 5.34GHz" passes.
?
Did Config/Clear Config/Config/calibration several times using both provided leads, resulting in same error when calibrating above 5.34GHz.

Version: tinySA4_v1.4-40-g2f63e1c
Build Time: Jan 13 2023 - 17:56:59
HW Version: V0.4.5.1 (167)
?
Any ideas on how to proceed prior to returning it to the vendor? |

If I temporarily disable LNA, will all my measurements still be correct?

I forgot to mention that you can trace the signal through the LNA using a scope

You're welcome!? I'm going to post the Visio file in the FILES sections today for those that want to take what I've done and expand upon it.

Harmonic measurement. Question for Eric
Eric,
When I measure harmonics I always use? well defined high pass filters that suppresses the fundamental by >50db. The commercial spectrum analyzer I use at work lets me input the attenuation of the fundamental as a value in db. This permits the measurement of harmonics that are very small (-110 to -120dbc) without overloading the front end. Would it be possible to do with the ultra? It should be just a mathematical function that doesn't impact the function of the analyzer it self. The read out would be the reduced fundamental + offset , and harmonics in dbc to the combined fundamental value. John |

There is either something wrong with the first switch or with the LNA
The new FW detects this and refuses to calibrate -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/

When I turn off LNA? I generate CAL out at 30Mhz it work fine .
But I turn on LNA look like this. I backed to the old firmware. |
