Re: Measuring FM Deviation

Normally I would place each marker at a point on a horizontal graticule where both waveforms cross, but I couldn't figure out a way to place a marker on the stored waveform.? Fortunately the carrier was straight, up and down, where I needed to make my measurement so I could eyeball placement of marker 2.? Re: Tiny SA arrived today.
Sorry, I will check the additional battery check items and Maggie will send you a new tinySA as soon as possible. Please help check whether vbat displays 4.2V after removing the battery. If it displays 4.2V, it means the battery is faulty, if not, it means the charging IC is faulty.

Hello Ray, the red LED is on when charging, and the red LED is off when it is full. Is the battery not working now?

Re: Tiny SA arrived today.
My TinySA arrived today! yay
As soon as I got the notification about the release from Erik, I put in my order. Maggie reminded me that it's arrival was imminent, so I filled in a DHL form to no-sign and put in my 'covid-special' box... I started 'playing with it asap and found it easy to follow the menu system - even though I know very little about these creatures. I put my NanoVNA-H with a 20db attenuator on to see the waveforms - amazing how the two worked together. Thank You Erik, Hugen and Maggie for this great device! Regards Colin |
Re: Measuring FM Deviation
I have never done this FM deviation measurement but it is possible to see the carrier dip.
Set transmitter to 144MHz Set your test tone to 2kHz (1kHz is too low for the minimum RBW of a tinySA) With a deviation of 5kHz (my signal generator does not let me do 4.8kHz deviation) you get the dip at the carrier frequency The second bessel dip occurs when you have a deviation of 11kHz So I guess you can tune the depth of the modulation to get the first dip using a tone of 2kHz. Any other views? |
Measuring FM Deviation
J P Watters
Erik and the band of tinySA users,
The single largest use of my Motorola service monitor or my Bench Spectrum Analyzer was to measure and adjust the FM Transmitter Deviation. Lately the initial setup of Packet Transceivers to have a consistent output transmission. This week's shipment receipt of a pair of TinySA will get unboxed over the weekend. I would appreciate any tips to measuring FM Transmitter Deviation with the TinySA. ..jpw J P Watters KC9KKO

Hugen informed me is has send some to a long-term cooperative agent. As the quantity was small these are sold out.? Thanks for the info Erik.? Yes, Amazon Prime is also listing the tinySA.? One of the nice things about your collaboration with hugen is that because of his experience producing the NanoVNA,? he has developed a network of of dealers that allow him to penetrate the market pretty quickly.? He also seems to understand which shipping options work best for speediest shipment and delivery.? His packaging is a level above most of his other competitors. ? The tinySA has exceeded the expectations of my ham club members who have received their units.? I look forward to whatever future features and innovations you have in store for the tinySA. ? - Herb |

Hugen informed me is has send some to a long-term cooperative agent. As the quantity was small these are sold out.
The agent has ordered a large quantity and will sell on many platforms including ebay and amazon. I will try to maintain a list of authorized sellers/stores on the wiki |
