Re: QtTinySA PC Application v0.10.6
Herb, I am not planning to add 'firmware update' because it seems people have difficulty using it in TinySA-App, and the DFU-util method works well and reliably in Linux and presumably in Windows too. |
Re: Attenuators
Dave's Hobby Shop (w5swl.com) aften has a good mix of surplus SMA attenuators. Dave is a good guy and I've always been satisfied. I've also found good deals on new and gently used Mini-Circuits attenuators on eBay when Dave doesn't have what I need.

Persistent setting of Ext. Gain
Barry PC1K
Hello all,
Is there a way to have the setting of External Gain be persistent? Since I only have one attenuator and I have it connected always, it is a little frustrating to having to keep setting it after reboot or when I select Measure Harmonics after setting the Ext Gain instead of the other way around. Please let me know, thanks! Barry |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAliExpress carry a big range of attenuators. for a cheap and cheerful 'safty' attenuator there is a board with 30, 20 and 10dB and a 0dB on the same PCB for about $5. Search AliExpress for ...diymore DC -4.0Ghz RF Fixed Attenuator Module BoardOn 12/06/2024 22:47, Dom via groups.io

Re: TinySA touch screen unresponsive
I just tried this from the FAQ:
Question The tinySA Ultra is does not react to touch commands or the jog button ?
AnswerThe LCD cable may not be seated correctly. Open the case and carefully lift the black clip holding the LCD cable at both edges till it swings up. Reseat the cable and press the black clip down till it clicks in position. Does not help either... I have now completely disconnected the display and connect the TinySA Ultra to my serial port. Same issue as before, I can run 'version': ch> version tinySA4_v1.4-169-ged1dfed HW Version:V0.4.5.1.1 But most other commands just 'hang': ch> vbat ... no response anymore until I restart the TinySA Ultra -Frank |
Re: TinySA touch screen unresponsive
Hi Roger,
I tried your suggestions by keeping the jog wheel (that's what it is called :-)) to the left and power cycled. The settings are not (visibly) reset and the device remains unresponsive to the touch screen or jog wheel. The only change I notice when keeping the jog wheel in the 'left' position at power on, is that my center frequency starts counting down to 0 in a few seconds as long as I keep the jog wheel in the left position. Again, if I press the jog wheel within 0.5 seconds after a power on, the menu appears, but then (again) I cannot change anything anymore. Needless to say I'm a bit sad about this... -Frank |
Re: TinySA touch screen unresponsive
Hello Herb,
I bought the TinySA Ultra at the Zeenko Store on AliExpress... About half a year ago... Unfortunately none of your suggestions help, but thanks for your suggestions. One thing I didn't try yet is to reseat the display connector. I'm not sure if this is a 'pull out' connector or 'rotate 90 degree' connector to release the ribbon cable... I guess I need to understand what defect could cause my behaviour... For this I need schematics to troubleshoot... Frank |

is this normal, and how many other signals are being produced by the device itself? All digital (and some analogue) devices emit RF noise, the level depends on how well it was designed. The emissions from the TinySA Ultra are at a very low level and should not be of any concern. You will see the emissions when using the telescopic antenna supplied with the SA, but this is really only intended to allow folks to get started quickly, and to be able to see some signals. It is useful for interference hunting in the home, but for more accurate and noise free performance, an externally connected antenna is preferable. Regards, Martin |

Yes, this is normal. Any electronics device will emit some radiation.?
Try other devices. You will be suprised by the emissions from a phone, computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc... Even the radio you are using to listen to the tinySA will radiate. -- Designer of the tinySA For more info go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |

SA Ultra shows signal at 192.100MHz. Tuned that on a radio and heard steady beeps that seem to come from the SA. when I move the radio away, they are inaudible and when I move the marker with the jog wheel they match my movements. And if I hold the jog wheel, the beeps stop while the screen is frozen.? is this normal, and how many other signals are being produced by the device itself? |
Re: Display replacement
Do you have the TinySA with the small 2.8" screen? Or the TinySA Ultra with the 4" screen? On Tue, Jun 11, 2024, 4:26 AM GamzeeMakara2000 via <GamzeeMakara2000=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Input curve values are not updated after calibration
Thank you, Erik, for the document.
It describes nicely the calibration procedure, which I also applied before. I see, that on page 19 it is stated that for DIRECT and DIRECT LNA can't be changed by the user for whatever reason (although it works for the last 18/17 frequencies).? But surprisingly also for IN HARM and IN HARM LNA the last 8 (IN HARM) / 9 (IN HARM LNA) correction values (index 12..19 and 4..19 for IN HARM and IN HARM LNA, respectively) cannot be changed via the GUI on the device. They can be changed only via USB commands. Is this the expected behavior? Best regards, Michael |
