Re: New Ultra FW release: trigger beep, multi band scanning and reduced waterfall height

I must admit that I was expecting the sub-bands to be displayed all in one sweep, and was slightly confused when it cycled. So perhaps the option of either display mode would be possible?

My preference would be to leave as-is, but with a 1 second delay between bands scanned. I think it would be too crowded with 8 segments side-by-side.

?Hi Erik, thanks for adding new features!
I would suggest to add a new displayed plot variant for the muti-band mode: not to jump the scan from one band to another in a cycle, but rather to plot all selected bands simultaneously during a single scan (common screen).
Just add vertical separation lines between the displayed bands. In this display mode we might also add more flexibility in selecting common RBW settings, etc.

Thanks for Your work!

?Did you try a? torroidal transformer? That would be my choice since it doesn't introduce more circuit noise and non linearities

Hello,

Acrobat is a big and ugly tool.

PdfXchenge? Viewer ist much more easy, aller, faster, and better in any acpect I know.

All the Best,

The current one seems to be rotated 90 degrees left on my Acrobat viewer and rotation seems to require registering or payment.....

Thanks, Geoff. Missed that.

Dewey, Save As.. after rotate still saves an unchanged version.

Re: As RFI locator...

I notice your schematic says the input resistance of your "impedance booster" is about 1 Megohm.? That would be true if R4, the 1k emitter resistor, were the only load on the emitter of Q1.? But it's not, of course, it is also driving the 50 ohm input impedance of the spectrum analyzer, and therefore has an input impedance in the range of 22 to 60 kohms (50 ohms times Beta of 450 to 1200).? Still, the current gain of the transistor is a big boost to the weak signals picked up by the telescoping whip antenna.? If you need to present a higher impedance to the whip antenna, try using a Darlington transistor for Q1, or maybe make it a source follower with a JFET or MOSFET.? But for most people, the current gain of the 5089 will make a big difference!? I love emitter followers/source followers (and yes, even vacuum tube cathode followers) - such a simple way to get a big current boost.

Re: New Ultra FW release: trigger beep, multi band scanning and reduced waterfall height

Terry,
Thanks, indeed, big number needs the large waterfall space, will revert back.
The broken line occurs when very small spans are scanned. Will repair this.
The multi band still needs to be matured. It comes from a request to allow a non continuous frequency range

Re: Menu Tree Chart - rotation?

Dewey

If not, the free Adobe pdf Reader software, will rotate it (via View menu) and then you can then re-save the file.

Re: 2 files uploaded #file-notice

Try Sumatra PDF
I have used Sumatra for a long time and find it to be a very good PDF viewer. You can still keep the Adobe one if needed.

Re: New Ultra FW release: trigger beep, multi band scanning and reduced waterfall height

Erik,

I just started playing with the latest version. It appears that the BIG NUMBER function has been broken.

With a frequency range entered, in MULTI BAND I just see a broken horizontal line. With several ranges entered, the display flashes between them so fast that it's almost a blur. What is the intended use of this new mode?

And I didn't even know the Ultra has a beeper. I've never heard it, and wonder what other functions use it.

New FW release
Version V1.4063, Ultra only

Changes:
- Option to sound a beep when the trigger level is exceeded.
- New measurement: MULTI BAND
- Waterfall height reduced.

The multi band measurement allows the definition of up to 8 bands to be scanned, each with a possible trigger level
The active bands will be scanned in the order as listed.
As the scanning is intended to be as fast as possible the RBW and display points are automatically optimized for speed depending on the span of the band.

There is not enough free memory in the 2.8" tinySA to add these functions.

The wiki is not yet updated with this new functionality

Re: tinySA deeper case back, larger battery, 3.5mm jack for Listen mode

Being new to this group I had not discovered Karl Jan Skontorp's? "audio extension" in the Files section which appears to be a very good design.??I'm happy to share my own design.? It includes the two holes to make the red (charge) and blue (scan) LEDs visible.? You will find them in the Files section as "Another audio extension".
