Do users want multiple pages in pdf or multiple pages in jpg? (I can do both) I'm working also on a method of displaying the final product that'll make it as user friendly as possible. As far as a nice BIG shinny printout, in color, well, that's another kettle of fish.

Mike,
? ?I think you mean self test #3.? I believe self test #3 verifies the level of the 30MHz calibration output and should look similar to the following image when the CAL output is connected to RF in.

It will be helpful to Erik in troubleshooting your error if you provide a screen shot like I did above.

- From tinySA-App you can issue the command "self test 0 3" to run only selftest #3.
- Use the camera icon in tinySA-App to capture the screen shot.

If you have trouble capturing the screen shot, just attach a photo showing the self test #3 failure screen.

Re: New FW release: Waterfall now works on calculated traces

Next Ultra FW release will have date /time in status panel (my test Ultra has no battery)
And I will not implement regional settings.

Yeah, sorry, it was late last night when I put it up and forgot to reference it. That whole map is going to take some time but I'll put it up for anyone to copy, FREE.

Hi Mike,

Both of my TinySA Ultra units pass Test #3. ?(There is no adjustment.)

You could try a different cable to feed the Calibrate signal to the SA input, just in case.

Re: Some Questions and Observations tinySA Ultra

Linear-Averaging is useful to measure the average power of a modulated signal or noise. ?It's done before converting the measure power into dBms. ?It's tempting to use regular averaging or video filtering by setting the video bandwidth narrow, but that doesn't give you the true average power. ?Those techniques average the dBs, which is not the same as the average power since there's a log function in the middle. ?For FCC type acceptance testing they usually want to know the average power in the adjacent channels for example, and averaging the dB level over the bandwidth is close but slightly different than the true average power.

Re: New FW release: Waterfall now works on calculated traces

There is no space above the chart, unless I squeeze the chart.
Date and time can fit in the status panel, FW version info is already in status panel
Extra comment across? top of chart can be considered for tinySA Ultra once the alphanumeric keyboard is added.

Re: Measurement points versus Display points

Herb, its a bit different
Hidden measurements are only inserted when step size > RBW/2. Of these measurements the maximum is used per sweep point.
If step size? < RBW/2 the requested points are measured
so if you select 450 points and RBW=600kHz on a 1MHz span there will be 450 measurements done which overlap a lot.

Such as ?
Erik,
?Wander's attached screen shot showed additional information (time, date, revision) in a reserved area at the top of the tinySA Ultra screen.? If this were considered, I would hope that area was normally clear but could be used as a comment area where the user manually typed in additional information as desired.

Measurement points versus Display points

Erik,
? You stated in an earlier topic that, "If you choose any amount of measurement points and span the tinySA will insert hidden measurement points to ensure step size <= RBW/2 if needed."

? If 450 sweep points are selected in the Display menu, and 2000 measurement points are performed by the tinySA to ensure step size <= RBW/2 for a selected span and RBW; are only the top 450 peak signals out of the 2000 measurement points displayed on the tinySA screen?

? I want to ensure I understand this correctly when I try to explain it to others.

Herb

Updated and working normally.
Thank you for considering the WATERFALL detail.

Erik, now that tinySA ultra's screen is bigger, wouldn't it be interesting for you to use a status field up here with some more information?

Re: Looking for any update info on larger-screen TinySA

Hi David,

I ordered mine from R&L too. I exchanged a couple of notes with them and delivery could be well before Christmas (Dec 25). The wait - however long - just is what it is. I have been waiting for mine well over 50 years so a few more days means nothing :)

Thanks - I realized after I posted (then deleted, that didn't help things either!) that the "ultra" version had emerged since I last looked into this. I've since placed order with R&L, expect a long ETA, but at least there's a solution in the offing.

New FW release: Waterfall now works on calculated traces

New FW release for tinySA and tinySA Ultra
Version V1.3506
Changes:
- Waterfall now works with calculated traces.

Waterfall will display the first active trace with no calculation or, when none available, the first active trace.

New Video: tinySA Ultra observing WiFi and other networks.

Using only the tinySA Ultra and a small telescopic antenna it is possible to observe various wireless networks. This video demonstrates how you can observe WiFi, 433MHz ISM, Mobile Phone and DECT traffic.

The audio output you will activate through the LEVEL/LISTEN menu but the spectrum on the screen will be frozen.
