Mark, Python is a scripting language so any Python application is actually a script that Python interprets, so apps are cross-platform, and the same app would run on a Mac, on Windows, or in my case on Linux.? I'm not familiar with the latest OS X, but early versions of OS X included Python, so it may already be installed.?
