Will the MacOS installer for v 1.4.1 be available soon?
9
Dear Taguette users, I am a superfan of Taguette. After using Dedoose and Envivo for my qualitative coding, and hearing horror stories about ATLAS.ti, I believe Taguette is best-in-class for producing archive-ready analysed datasets. It is also great that it is FOSS! I really do hope development is continuing and would be happy to pitch in from a user perspective (I have low programming/coding skills). Does anyone have a sense for when the MacOS installer for v1.4.1 will come out? I just tried building it from a clone of the repository using CLI and running Poetry, but I got a messages saying Poetry needed symlinks in the environment. I just don't have time to dive deep into what that is all about. A drag-and-drop MacOS install would be awesome. Kindest regards, Nick Nicolas A. importing pdf document with 2 columns - formatting messed up
2
Hi, I've just discovered Taguette and it's fantastic! I'm sure someone has already solved this problem: I'm importing pdf journal articles into Taguette. They are usually formatted as two columns. After importing to Taguette, it ends up as a jumble, as the conversion tool reads across the page, so interlaces the content from 2 columns, rather than down one column then down the next column. How can I prevent this? Thanks again, great tool! Molly

Support to transition existing project from NVivo to Taguette?
4
I have some research funds that I could potential use to make the transition from NVivo to Taguette for my research team. Does anyone have recommendations on how to identify a good fit for carrying out that transition and training myself and fellow researchers? This program is not yet commonly used at my program.

Conversion error: Calibre couldn't convert that file
5
Hi, now I' m using a selfhosted dockerized 1.3.0 version of taguette. I? trying to export to PDF but I get this error "Conversion error: Calibre couldn't convert that file" But I can export XLS, HTML, and DOCX I' m using: - Debian 10 Linux 4.19.0-20-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.235-1 (2022-03-17) x86_64 GNU/Linux calibre --version (calibre 3.39.1) I tried to interact with calibre to check for anything wrong, so I wrote: calibre --update-check it says: qt.qpa.screen: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display Could not connect to any X display. That makes sense because I'm using a commandline only server not a desktop Thanks

Taguette self hosting on Raspi 4, docker,[need help]
6
Hello, I've been trying to get a Taguette instance to run on my Raspi 4 all day today. I have yet to call myself a noob, so my approach may be a bit clumsy. What I have done: Both via python3/virtualenv an instance and via Docker seem to work, only I can't access it from my other devices on the network. The "localhost:port" links from the terminal don't work. In the meantime, I removed /home/user/taguette and also everything in /srv/taguette to restart with Docker. I made a git clone and built the dockerimage, set up config.py and then I try it with "docker run <dockerimage_id> the container seems to start, I get the link but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work somehow. I don't know if it has something to do with the ports, the IP or the firewall or something else entirely :p

Clustering Tags
11
Hi, Is there a way to cluster multiple tags to explore patterns in a project? I have a large project (12 interviews at ~1 hour each) and about 100 initial tags. I would like to group some of them to spot patterns? Is this possible in Taguette? Thanks! Judy

Taguette 1.2 has been shipped ?
5
Hello all! We're delighted to have released Taguette 1.2 ? This release focuses a lot on enhancing the performance of Taguette in a few ways: Add more databases indexes to improve performance (especially on larger, self-hosted installations) Reload page when the server (app.taguette.org) updates Taguette versions, avoiding clients on older versions (if they never close the tab) Add a keyboard shortcut to create a highlight - n key (this is customizable for local installs) Focus on the name field when creating a tag Enable portable install in Windows installer (no admin access) Remi also fixed the error importing projects on Windows (and other permission errors on temporary files), as well as fixed the 403 error when importing a project if no other form has been shown before (single-user mode, no project created). Update your installation here: gitlab.com/remram44/taguette/-/tags/v1.2.0. Cheers, Vicky Rampin on behalf of the Taguette team opencollective.com/taguette

VirusTotal False Positives
2
Hello Remi and co, I wanted to note that the false positive rate is increasing - now 12 vendors are reporting taguette.exe on Windows as being malicious or potentially harmful. I think at this stage that it is likely a consequence of the compiler process, presuming you're using PyInstaller to develop the .exe; as such, I think this guide might be helpful at resolving the issues without having to necessarily contact each AV vendor each update to try and get clearance. https://python.plainenglish.io/pyinstaller-exe-false-positive-trojan-virus-resolved-b33842bd3184 Warmest Regards, Darrell A. Do you have issues with Taguette on Windows?
8
Hi, Over the last few days we have received a lot of emails about issues installing Taguette 1.0.0 on Windows. Some of them seem to be related to antivirus software but there seems to be more problems than usual. We mostly get feedback when something is wrong, so I wanted to reach out here. Are Windows users having success installing taguette-setup-1.0.0-1.exe? All feedback is helpful, particularly from users who also tried previous versions. Did it get worse? Is it working fine for you? Did you have to fall back to a previous version? Best regards -- Rémi Rampin The developer

Announcing Taguette's Open Collective
Hello all, We were asked by a community member about creating a place to accept donations - https://gitlab.com/remram44/taguette/-/issues/216. We do incur a few personal costs in maintaining Taguette, so we thought that it wasn't a bad idea to at least have a place where people can donate if they choose to (though no pressure!). So, we've created an Open Collective! Check it out: https://opencollective.com/taguette If you contribute to our Open Collective, you'll be helping Rémi and I with the server costs to maintain Taguette and app.taguette.org (which has over 11,000 users). If we get enough donations, we can move Taguette onto a dedicated server. We went with Open Collective because we believe in full transparency, and believe it is a platform that will enable that to the fullest (it doesn't hurt that the platform itself is open source, too!). Our fiscal host is the Open Source Collective, which serves as the host for more than two thousand other open source projects. Again, we don't want to pressure anyone to donate financially, just wanted to announce that if you want to, the option is there. Thanks & have a great day! Cheers, Vicky Rampin on behalf of the Taguette team

Problems setting up docker
4
Hi! First of all, thank for developing this tool! I would like to run Taguette on a server using the Docker image. I admit I don't have a lot of experience using Docker and struggle to follow the instructions. When I call docker run --rm quay.io/remram44/taguette default-config >/srv/taguette/taguette.conf, I get an error: /srv/taguette/taguette.conf: Permission denied Doing it as root doesn't change anything. When I call docker run -ti -p 80:7465 -v /srv/taguette:/data --restart=always quay.io/remram44/taguette server /data/taguette.conf, I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/bin/taguette", line 5, in <module> main() File "/usr/src/app/taguette/main.py", line 251, in main with open(args.config_file) as fp: FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/data/taguette.conf' Any hints? Could you walk me through the steps of setting up Taguette via Docker from scratch?

Corrupted Taguette install file (OsX Mojave 10.14.6)
Hello, Rémi and group. I just tried (x2) installing the Mac OsX version of Taguette from the install site. Both times when opening the program (3rd Mac OsX step here), I get a "damaged file" error. Any ideas on what might be wrong, here? Many thanks! Self hosted Taguette

I have a single instance of Taguette running on my server, but am trying to launch it in server mode. I have built a Taguette docker image from the Docker file, and launched the container to create a server: docker run -ti -p 7465:7465 -v /srv/taguette:/data --restart=always mytag:mytaguette server /data/taguette.conf However I get the following install error: 2021-03-17 10:55:06,251 INFO: Setting umask to 077Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/bin/taguette", line 5, in <module> main() File "/usr/src/app/taguette/main.py", line 257, in main exec(fp.read(), config) File "<string>", line 1 2021-03-17 09:25:51,060 INFO: Setting umask to 077 ^SyntaxError: invalid token

Editing tags for individual bits of text
3
Hello, I've been using Taguette for a few weeks and find it really helpful. It was very quick to pick up. However, there's one thing that I'm not sure if I just can't figure out how to do or if Taguette doesn't allow for. When coding, I've found I often will start grouping certain concepts together but then later decide they should be under separate tags. Once you click on a tag to see all the highlighted texts that have been coded with that tag, is it possible to choose one specific portion of highlighted text and change it to another tag? If I'm just missing it, I'd really appreciate a quick direction on how to do this. If it's not possible, however, I would love to see this as a feature request. It seems like a really important feature for qualitative researchers. Thank you so much! Scheduled maintenance on app.taguette.org - Saturday February 13
2
Hi everyone, app.taguette.org will be down for maintenance this Saturday during the afternoon (Eastern Time). During that time I will be moving to a new server (still hosted by OVH in France) and hopefully migrating the database from SQLite3 to PostgreSQL 12. The change should have no impact on your data, though hopefully the system will respond faster after the migration. Best regards -- Rémi Rampin The developer

error 500 when copying sqlite file between osx and windows
3
Hi, I love using taguette because of its simplicity and friendliness. Therefore I've installed it on both my mac and my pc. There's a problem that when I tried to copy the sqlite from my mac to my pc, I could not upload any documents, delete any projects because of the error 500. Could anyone have an idea in order to get rid of this problem? Thanks guy

Importing into Taguette - A question
3
Hi everyone! I have just introduced Tagguette to my research group in a large hospital in Israel, as they take their first steps in qualitative methodology. We love it! We are not allowed to use any cloud service, yet we look for ways to co-work on our research. Hence my question: is it possible to import data (code-book and tagged texts) from one Taguette account to another? Looking forward to hearing if this might be possible, Pnina ______________ Pnina Steinberg, Phd.
