This morning when I was home schooling my kids, I was grading my
youngest sons paper when he decided he was cold, he backed all the way up to the heater, and when he did his shirt got caught. The next thing I knew my son was jumping up and down screaming mom! mom! mom! (he was facing me so I couldn't see the back of his shirt.) He then turned and started running down the hallway, and me and my other 2 kids ran after him, (he was on fire!) My middle son got him out and ripped his clothes off of him. He has 3rd degree burns completely on his back and neck and his hair is cinged very badly. Thank GOD we got it out before his hair caught fire. Anyway, I will be taking a week or so off the computer to care for my son and I will not be answering emails or group mails. Please..... if you have small children, let them know not to run when their clothes catch fire. My son is 10 and I thought he knew to stop, drop and roll, but he did not. He IS going to be okay, but is very badly burned. Please keep us in your prayers. *hugs all* If you need help in the mean time please message Bev at: babflorida@... and she will help the best she can Connie Perry |

Burns are awful things, very painfull, I am sure you taught him well and in his panic he just forgot, as we probably all would, to stop drop and roll. Our prayers are with you...hugs..Barbara On 1/17/07, Connie <dollarstitch@...> wrote:

Dear Connie:
I am so sorry to hear about your sons injuries. It certainly triggered a memory for me. The same thing happened to my Uncle quite a long time ago and he panicked and did not stop, drop and roll. Your son probably new that rule, but when you're in a panick situation like that you have a tendancy to forget all the rules. Our medical profession has come a long way since my Uncle was badly burned. I wish with all my heart that your son has a speedy recovery. Thoughtfully yours, Michele Not Just Threads at Potter's Paradise |

Thank you, I honestly thought they taught it in schools, (I just started home schooling mine this past year) and he honestly didn't know. He said they had "fire" drills but never told him what to do if his clothes caught fire, and honestly it's not something I thought I would ever have to discuss with him or the other kids, I thought they just knew. (dumb on my part) We went to the doctor today, (and have to go back in a week) but he has 3rd and 2nd degree burns covering his entire back, it's going to be ruff on him for a little while, but he has been reallly wonderful though the whole thing. The only time he ever cries is when I put the medicine on his back or touch it to clean it. Thank you so much for the prayers they mean everything. It's sure is a scary thing to go through.
