No luck trimming a post on the newer yahoo mail version

John Cook

I, too hate to read a new message reply that does not contain the original. However, I have the new e-mail format and it gives me the "all or nothing" options of editing. I hit reply and I can either then type a response and send back every single thing that came in the original message, group advertisement and all, or only my response (as you will find in this message). I tried all sorts of "tricks" to highlight and/or save or cut and paste and nothing. I've given up trying, so I now try to refer to the original message in my message to assist the reader. I don't know what else to do. Denise

If you hit reply and then double click on the original message, you can then edit.
A box like thing comes up around it and lets you remove part or all of the message.

John I have the new format too.. I get individual emails ......this is
how I just trimmed your to reply to you, first hit reply then double
clicked in your message that puts a border around your message and I then
highlight and delete the bits in your message I want to remove.
Then I click once on the adverts and press delete. If the adverts get a
border round them I click somewhere else on the white bits and then click
once on the adverts (The ones down the side) and press delete
Hope this helps

Best wishes

Well, I've tried this method twice. Once after clicking twice, was able to edit out what I wanted. This time, it took away everything in the first message. Obviously I don't have the hang of it yet, but I will persevere. Denise

you're welcome

Denise, at the bottom of the "fully featured" version of the Yahoo
message is a click for "Reply Via Web Post." If you click there, it
takes you to Yahoo to reply. It quotes the incoming mail, which you
can then shorten as necessary so readers can tell what you're
answering.

The drawback, if it matters to you, is that you do not get a copy of
your sent message in your outgoing email files.

In my email program, (Outlook Express) there's a tab called "Format"
up at the top. Click that then scroll down to "Plain Text" and choose that option. It changes everything from html so it can be highlighted then deleted as you want.

Click on message above and click plain text. You can then select and
delete at will.
