Re: Things the Bug me...
Linda
Well, I think I can both discuss the negative of giving things and the
positive in one message! How's THAT for talent?! LOL I make things (well, not so much lately) for my in-laws. I was finally told that it wasn't right for me to give Christmas gifts to everyone because they couldn't afford/didn't want to reciprocate. It didn't matter that I didn't care - I just really liked giving things. Anyway, I finally stopped. But, the women did have a gift exchange amongst the crafting ones. I have made some really nice stuff (if I do say so - it's that talent again, lol) Anyway, my mother-in-law has occasionally given the things BACK to me, saying she doesn't need/want them anymore, and she thinks I would rather have them back than for her to give them to charity. I started to get offended but now I look forward to getting the stuff back, because it was usually something I wanted in the first place!!! Anyway, I am divorced now and my ex-husband has told them he doesn't want me to be part of the holiday thing anymore, so now I just give the MIL and FIL store-bought stuff for occasions. Take care! most precious possessions in their grandparents' coffins - a way of sending their love forever I guess. Perhaps this was her most precious thing she could give to the deceased? I'm trying to put a good face on this and maybe you shouldn't assume the act was a "putaway" - but what a shame to put something like that with a person who cannot appreciate it. Only the giver can know what is in her heart with this act. Nevertheless, at least she called to ask because she knew how precious this quilt was ... Now, your niece is a real keeper, I can tell that. And if I were her, I would just weep to see all my work buried that way. BUT once a gift is given, it's given and no longer ours. I wouldn't do such a thing again for that person, but maybe I'm just cranky about people who don't treat my very hard work gifts with the reverence I believe they are entitled to. Okay, it's really not my business anyways and I won't say any more. Hugs to you Caroline and to your wonderful niece, too. KathyS -----Original Message-----

In fairness, just remember that people on digest get their messages later than everyone else. Also remember that I am at least 10 hours ahead of you - others almost a whole day as we are international. The moderators know that not everyone gets their messages at the same time and they allow for that which is pretty fair when you think about it..

Re: about freebie hunters!!!

The world of digitising is getting so very competitive lately that no one is prepared to take any chances with possible pirating. It's not downloading free designs that many object to, it's the whining and complaining that goes on when people miss out, the continual harrassment when they are really doing their potential customers a favour.

So many sites have stopped giving samples altogether and force people onto groups now because of pirating and quite frankly, I don't blame them. If you had to email a site as a potential customer to get a sample, I would be quite happy. It builds a relationship with the digitiser and makes their service more personal. I applaud those who have already taken that step and I don't think it will be long before things tighten up even more. We should all be grateful that we have been so free for so long - it won't last and it's the whiners and pirates who are forcing it to happen. Maybe soon you'll find that you can't buy their designs even if you wanted to without talking to them first. Who knows? Hugs, Sherrie @( 0 )@ ----- Original Message ----

OT. Older woman are great

Dear Friends
I received this very tongue-in-cheek email from a dear friend of mine. I got a good giggle out of this one. Hope you enjoy it. Aren't older woman great? After I had been married for 50 years, I took a look at my wife and said, "Sweetheart, 50 years ago, we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 13-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 20 year-old auburn-haired gal. Now, we have a nice house, nice car, big bed and plasma screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 68 year old woman. It seems to me that you are not holding up your side of things." My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 20 year-old auburn-haired woman, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 13-inch black and white TV. Aren't older women GREAT? They really know how to solve your mid-life crises! Don't strive for mediocrity! Re: unsubbing

I totally agree with you. I haven't left a group, yet. But, sometimes I feel like it when I have 100 messages to read, and when I open them up, 90% of them are about Wal-Mart, politics, religion, etc. I not saying that I don't enjoy reading about good news in your family or a prayer request for yourself or family member, these It's do not bother me. I often find myself checking the digest to make sure that a members surgery went well, that the new triplets are doing good, or that a members son that was burned is doing okay. I guess I consider these groups my extended family. I love hearing about, and seeing, the cute pictures of new family members that you are so proud of. I also think it is wonderful that so many care about others by sending words of encouragement, prayers, "Thank yous" for designs and appreciations for help.
It is the 1000+ messages saying the same thing over and over again that make me feel like I want to leave a group. I understand that the Wal-Mart closing started off as a legitimate topic...but then it got way out of hand. Same with some other topics. Even when the moderators say enough, some want to keep it going. I really do enjoy all the groups that I am in and I wouldn't want to leave any of them. Natalie in Texas |
Deco 340
carol_keup
Good morning to all. I bought my deco 340 last week end and anyone that
has one, did any software come with yours? I called and when to dealer yesterday and she made calls in front of me to bernina. I can not do any designs on computer,(as in download or open any thing with bernina). She is going to order me some software, that is really going to cost. She also made me a copy of one of her disk and I can not open it. My computer, everything I try to do with it says, file does not have a program associated with its format with performing this action. Create an association in the folder option. I can not figure out how what to do. While on the phone with bernina (hearing one side) she told the person that none of her machines came with something and it made me think of software. Does anyone have one that came with software or anything besides machine, manual, bobbins and screw drivers, etc? Thanks Carol |
