Re: Venus: cup wraps

G'day Venus
Just went to have a look at your cup wrap - what a great idea, we all know how the cuppa gets cold when we are ingrossed in our obscession. Also good to put a face to the name - looks cheeky just like I suspected it would. Great to see you on the lists - you were very quiet for a long while

Venus: I've read several e-mails about your cup wraps and want to
get the directions, but when I type in the address of your message
#6 on Wed June 11, 2003 it can't find it.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm on a computer all day at work, but not much with the internet so
not quite sure what I'm doing wrong.

Also maybe you can help me, I'm looking for patterns to put on tea
towels (flour sack) of spices. I posted a request earlier, but got
no response. Any suggestions of where I might find some deisigns.
Thank you. Janice

Re: Terry Cloth

Judy Lehman

Thank you Janet. Now I just need to purchase some tulle. I really
appreciate all of you taking the time to answer questions from a newbie.

Judy in California

Did several towels at Christmas. Hooped Hydro-stick and dampen, position
the
towel, lay tulle (white for light colors & black for dark colors) over the
towel, pin with straight pins the tulle as close to the four edges of the
hoop as
you can get. I pinned through the tulle, towel, and Hydro-stick. You can
add
the wash away if you want just before pinning.
It has been my experience in the past that when the wash away is removed
the
loops of the towel will still work up through the embroidery. With the
tulle
it helps to prevent that. Before starting to embroidery go to layout and
do a
trial to be sure none of the four straight pins will be caught during the
embroidery. When the embroidery was done I trimmed away the excess tulle.
Did not
trim out between letters or small spots in the design. Every one was very
happy with their towels.
Have fun
Janet

Re: Terry Cloth

Judy Lehman

Laura,

I thank you very much. I don't have any tulle in the house, so I guess this
project can wait until tomorrow. I really appreciate your advice. I do
have all the threads I need.

Judy in California

I use a tear away under, and tulle on top instead of a wash away. Once
the wash away washes away, the loops will begin to pop through the
design. You can find tulle in remnants alot, and I always pick up
whatever is there, in whatever color, so that I always have some to
match the towel color that I'm doing. I learned this trick (using the
tulle) from a very wise woman on another message forum and love it!
Most times when the design is finished, the tulle will tear away from
the design on top. If not, it's easy enough to clip it away from the
design. Laura

On a Terry Cloth towel would you hoop a tear-away, cut-away or wash away
