Thank you for the beautiful butterfly. If ever you share a design with us and it is a stand-alone lace design... please advise... that way I will know I can sew it out all by itself, not on fabric. Thank you again for your generosity. God bless, Linda Greer -------Original Message-------

Subject: [HookedOnEmbroidery] please read before download the file Friends in a few minutes I'm going to upload the new freebie, It's a lovely lace butterfly done by my daughter Daleen. Before I do that please read the following. Go to . Log in with your yahoo id and password. Click on Hooked On Embroidery. If you don't see it there click on my groups on the top. It should show you all the groups you belong to. Click now on Hooked On Embroidery. In the left colom click on files. Now you can download by dubble click on the zip file (freebutterfly)and download it to your harddrive. You also can right click and select save target as. Choose the folder whereto you want it to be downloaded. Now if you first want to look and see what you download. Click on the photo section. It will take you to the page where we upload photos to share. Another thing, when you are a newbie in the PC world and you are confused by the fact that it is a zip file. It has to be unzipped with a program called winzip. Winzip can de downloaded from . After you installed winzip on your computer, restart. Go to your zipfile that you downloaded, right click on it and choose unzip to the same folder. It will then create a folder right there with the files in. If you experience any problems please mail me and not the group. Linda,Nancy,Pamie and Barbara will also help sending the files. The files will be uploaded today at STGN and the link where to download will be posted on the list by Sharron and Jackie. Please be patient and remember the files will always be there. Please friends mail me if you need any more help. Here are my e-mail address again. kemp@... Love and Happy sewing Miems Yahoo! It is very interesting to read this topic. Its sort of "funny" but I'm toward the other end of the spectrum. I have severe RA and OA and am mainly in a wheelchair. My hands are not as usable, and they frequently shake a lot. I DO sew - just not nearly as much as my dream projects require! The sewing I do is for my dear grandchildren. My dh is a "caretaker" too, but I try to make it easier for him. I know it is a lot of extra work - not just taking care of my needs, but doing the things I used to do and can't do any more. I have so much compassion and admiration for those of you who have this responsibility. Please do take time for yourself now and then. It really is necessary. I'm trying to get my dh to go on a day hike. He rarely does something just for himself. Anyway, thanks from someone who knows some of how hard it . Adrienne, you're not the only paranoid one in the bunch. I too back up regularly and place the cd's in our fire proof box! Dh tells me that the computer would be the last thing we replace should a catastrophe occur, but after a years worth of work acquiring all the designs I have, at least I know I won't have to start *that* search all over again! Thanks for making me feel like I'm not a nut after all! Laura

I don't know what I'd do without your butterflies! When I started embroidery (about a year ago) the first designs I bought were your butterfly collection. My mother fell in love with them, and I've done several lap quilts using them for her. This butterfly will definitely go into another gift for her, it is so beautiful! Thank you so much Miems and Daleen! Laura

Re: Using the lace coaster and butterfly
tbeery
How about embroidering the designs on Organza, cutting them out, appliqueing
them on top of the cloth over the holes, and then cutting away the fabric underneath? Then they will seem as tho you MEANT to put them there! (and just more applique of a different kind!) Granny D-1, #1+, ULT2001, 8500, 300s mailto:tbeery@... "Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly." Subject: [HookedOnEmbroidery] Using the lace coaster and butterfly ...I have started making a tablecloth with a circle of applique roses in the middle. Was on the last one and carelessly got some excess fabric caught up underneath the hoop and got it caught in the embroidered part of the leaves..UUUUGHH!! ...I thought about placing the lace coaster design in the centre of the roses to introduce some lace into the design then "patching" the holes around the outside of the design with the lace butterfly design (this would be kind of randomly placed because of the position of the holes) .... Any other suggestions?? |
Re: books on Embroidery
Rosalie Rohrer
I got up this AM to check E Mail before leaving for work. Whow, you guys
have been busy since 8 PM last night. 5 Digests to read. Anyway I put my Embroidery, Sewing literature in the Little Girls Room and do some of my best reading there (LOL). I was having difficulty getting the bottom hoop to stay in place while hooping and finally came up with a solution. I took a heavy piece of cardboard and stapled a piece of the waffle type drawer liner to it. I had some of the heavier type and it works great. Now I just lay the bottom hoop on it with the bottom edge extended and lay the stabilizer and fabric over it and press down. The bottom hoop stays in place instead of scooting all over the place. If this doesn't make sense let me know and I will take a photo and put in in the files.
