Re: Embroidering on cardstock

I spent a lot of time trying to embroider on cardstock you have to have
designs made just for that purpose and sometimes you just punch the design right
out I found it so much easier to embroider the design out on material I used
felt and hot glue onto the card stock I used pinking sheers to cut out the
design so it looked nice it was a lot easier and less stressful and you could
use any design Bev

Embroidery File Viewer

PJR

Thanks to everyone who sent me info both on and off list about programs to view my embroidery files. There are several out there that look great, but I think I have found just what I needed for now - cheap and easy, LOL.

I was actually investigating SewCat, and found SewIconz. I've downloaded a trial (7 day) version, and have not had time to be sure there are no obvious drawbacks or bugs, but so far, it's great.

All I really wanted was to be able to see my designs as thumbnails so I could copy, move, rename, etc. easily. I use Windows Explorer to do all that with my graphics files (.jpg, .bmp, etc) because in thumbnail view I can see thumbnails of the actual pictures.

SewIconz is simple. You run it once, and tell it which files (.pes, .hus, there's a long list) you want included. After that one run, from then on Windows Explorer will show actual thumbnails of your design files, rather than just the program icon it shows normally. If you hover the cursor, you get an info box with size of design and number of stitches, also.

Exactly what I wanted, and I can see all my files at once, so I can move, copy etc. any .txt or .jpg files along with the designs they go with. And it's cheap, just $15. Embird has a similar program for $20, but it's a plug-in, not a stand-alone. So if you already have Embird, you might prefer their Iconizer. Since I don't have Embird, the stand alone SewIconz is better for me for now.

Thanks to all of you who sent me emails (on and off list) with suggestions, I saw some great programs to put on my wish list for later (like Embird, and Buzz Tools). But for now, this will do what I want, and leave me with some money left for designs, LOL.

Help; problem with thread trimmer

After threading one of the needles on my PR600 wrong, I had a bad
nesting of thread in the bobbin area. I had lots of thread around the
thread trimmer above the bobbin. I removed both screws that hold the
knives/trimmer to clean out the thread -- of course thinking I would
remember the placement. I don't have the knives in the correct
position and it won't cut the thread !
Help.
Can anyone email me a picture of how their thread cutter looks in
their machine ? I just need to know what it should look like.
Much appreciate any help you all can give.

LOVE it!!

But, now is NOT the time to stop our little (HAH) grass-roots campaign! Maybe we could/should email them again to PRAISE their "hold on the removal of fabrics". After all, when a child or a pet does something RIGHT, they are entitled to praise, right?

Oh yes, LOVE it!

I spoke with a fabric dept.manager in my home town last week she told me that in 90 days all fabrics and craft would be gone and whatever was left would me put in the trash. She said they were enlarging the electronic dept. to take the place of the other items because they make more money per square foot on electronics than the items in fabrics and crafts..There wasn't much fabric left then. It would be nice if they did reconsider, but do they really care about families that enjoy those items. I e-mailed Wal-Mart a rather lenghty one but never heard a word back from them. Brenda in MD

Sherry Caldwell

It is my understanding that the fabric won't totally be removed, but will be pre packaged like in 3 yard increments. It appears they are trying to cut out the ladies that do the fabric cutting. Some of the bigger stores here in Phoenix will go fast, but the little store we go to on 59 and Bill is going to be rebuilding so they will be one of the last hold outs until the store is redone. It is very sad to see them to away with fabric Not understanding!!!!

Re: I have a question for the group

Thanks for the reply Gail, This has been the second time since Oct. that
something has happened. The service tech at the center couldn't figure out
what is wrong so he sent it in to singer. I called and told them that their
training program stunk as far as training their techniciana..lol.. I just
am so frustrated with everything, and my big thing is why does it take 2
weeks just to figure out the problem or rather NOT figure out the problem I
know there is alot of technical stuff with these machines. I do belong to a
futura group and she couldn't figure out what was wrong..she tried
everything she knew to help me. It just was so strange, I had just finished
stitching out a fsl heart, shut off the machine but left the software open,
came back and tried to turn it on and all that would happen was buzzing and
flashing lights...No warning that there was anything wrong. I am now
starting to wish I had bought another brand...lol...I think I will look into
it...Thanks again Gail...hugs..Barbara

Hi Barbara,

I had a futura CE100 and had nothing but problems with it. I had
to send it back to Singer Corp twice(at my expense which was about
$35)for the same problem. They would send me a new machine and after
a few minutes of stitching the bobbin case would "jump" out of the
place where it sits and the needle would go right through the
plastic. When I called the customer service center the rep pretty
much called me a liar and send "that isn't possible". I finally spoke
to a manager who then told me that it was a manufacturing defect in
the metal bracket that the bobbin case sits in. I told her the
problems that I had with the cust service dept and that I had
purchased a Singer machine because of their good reputation, but that
I would never buy another Singer. They sent me a new machine that was
manufactured after that defect was fixed. I used that machine for
about a year when it started to make a metal-on- metal schreeching
noise. I took it to a singer dealer to see about getting it fixed and
was told that she didn't know without taking it all apart and there
were no guarantees. She gave me almost what i originally paid for the
machine in store credit and i upgraded to the Brother 4000D which I
absolutely love.
There are many that have the Singer and sing praises but I
unfortunately did not have good luck.

My bestest online Buddy had problems at every turn. She never was able to get it straightened out and ended up trading in on a singer xl6000 which she says is doing well. I on the otherhand have the ce200 and besides it sometimes being painfully slow, I hardly ever have a problem

I'm looking for a good, easy (cheap wouldn't be bad either, LOL) way
to view all my embroidery patterns. Ideally, I'd like something that
will work similar to how Windows Explorer does with graphic files when
you use thumbnail mode. I want to see the file structure, view
thumbnails, and be able to copy, move, rename, etc. from there.

I don't need something that organizes for me, I have my own system for
that. I also have other utilities for unzipping, finding duplicates, and
actually working with the designs (resizing, etc.).

All I want is a good way to look thru what I have. I'm sure there must
be many programs that do that, or perhaps even a cheap or free utility.

Any ideas greatly appreciated, and sorry for the cross-post, just want
all suggestions possible so I can finish my spring clean, LOL.
