Margaret in Maryland: You can not just change a file extension.
The file has to be converted from one to another - Have you tried.
HUS or JEF - then convert them - I know that HUS converts better to
XXX format than PES does.
While PES may be used by more Embroiders, it takes up more room and
I've found that when converting to the format I need - I use HUS or
JEF. Or can you get it PEC - that is also a brother format - It may
convert for you.

Still not working for me. PES files will not open in my software -
all I have is the Bernina ARTLink that came with the machine.
ARTLink is not an editing software - I can view the designs, and it
will tell me what version of ART has been used, how many stitches,
how many color changes, size of design. I can "Save As" a different
version of ART (up to ART 4).
I have tried changing the file extension on a PES file to .art -
but ArtLink would not read that either.
I really appreciate everybody's trying to help me! Thank you all
so much! But it's still not working.

Hi Margaret. For your 200 to read embroidery files, they have to
be
in art format. Pes files will open in the software & then "saved
as"
an art format. I'm not sure if any other software besides Artista
will convert to art or not. I haven't found any. Hope this helps
