I can see there is some confusion here. Artlink only reads ART format.
It is a free software that let's you send ART designs from your computer
to your machine without needing a card or usb stick.
Bernina started with PES format, only because the first Bernina Deco
machines were made by Brother, so used the same format. Ever since
the Artistas began with a bigger hoop and software, the machine has
used ART format. Those with editor or designer software packages
can read and convert most formats easily. It's the software that does
it, not the machine.
I hope this clears up some conflicting answers. Kathy

Hi Bernina users: Have you tried using Art Link to send your PES
files to your machine. I have used PES many times on the 730E, the
640E, the 630E, the 440e and the 430E. Parker

Hi Deborah: You should be able to use the PES files on your Bernina.
It's the embroidery software that Bernina started with and every
Bernina I've seen can use the PES. I prefer the ART format, but always
use the PES when ART isn't available. Happy stitching, Parker.

Nay, not so!
My Bernina Artista 200 will not read PES files. If I open a folder
with PES files in it, the screen shows me ... Nothing!
