Softrock RXTX Troubleshooting Help Needed
Hello,
I am trying to complete the final testing of my Softrock RXTX kit. I am testing on the Driver/PA stage and a get a 116mA current draw on RX without activating the PTT. This current draw occurs with both the USB power and the 12v power When just using the 12v power (no USB power), I get a current draw of 18mA. The instructions I have been following called for the RX current draw to be less than 25 mA with both USB and 12v power when the PTT is not activated. Up until this point, all voltage and current checks have been fine in all previous stages as shown on the website. I have checked all the solder joints and have even re-round and resoldered T4. Any suggestions on what I can try next? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Tate N3BXZ |

Make sure that the BPFs have been disabled using the configure utility program. Regards, Tony, kb9yig On Apr 14, 2020, at 5:25 PM, Tate Jackson N3BXZ <Tate@...> wrote: |
I have an SDRPlay RSP1 and an Ensemble RX/TX. The RX/TX is somewhat more
sensitive in the bands for which it works on, but is limited in bandwidth compared to the RSP (or similar wideband SDRs). The two serve different purposes, the RX/TX is fine for measurements within a band but not too good for anything wider than the bandwidth determined mostly by your soundcard. The broadband SDRs can deal with bandwidths of 1 MHz or more depending on the device. There is also a fair bit of auxiliary software for the SDRs including things like a spectrum analyzer which is "good enough" for most ham work. A good trick for either is to use a broadband noise source (you can get these that are flat into the GHz range) as the input to a circuit that you want to measure and have the spectrum analyzer at the output of the DUT. dave k2lyv |
Thank you for the note Mr. Bimbaum. I have an SDR Play RSP1 too. Use it every day. Great receiver. I am building the Softrock because I like to build kits and the RXTX seemed like it would a fun kit to assemble. When I get it working, I'll put it in my QRP kit. It will be fun to see how much I can get it to do.
