As the topic states, is there a list of acceptable adapters?

Hi George,

This site is a bit old now, but it still has good information. You can google for more.

George ,

is there a list of acceptable adapters?
Not up to date. The Behringer is probably OK.

Roger's PDF here shows one. I think it works reasonably unmodified but it can be improved.

The Creative X-Fi works wonders when modded, only the drivers by Creative are not compatible with Windows 10 and the default Windows 10 drivers are 16 bit only (works sufficiently), and the mixer settings may be limited.

My W10 installation offers 96Khz 24 bit. And the Creative driver is for W10. (SB1095)
But I do not know if it actually works at 24 bits. An unmodified Softrock will not benefit from 24 bits.

I agree. I have been using a modded one with Windows 7. Excellent sound
card. I also use it for general listening to sound with the computer.

It appears that Creative has drivers for Windows 10. I am glad (although I have not tested on a softrock as I have not built mine yet..)
Best Regards;

Guy,

Creative have surprised me. Yes, that device and also several other "legacy" devices have have had Windows 10 drivers issued.
