I found it (Display Tab, Setup Book) and set it down from 15 to 6. That made a big difference. I see a message from Cecil that suggests several other options for reducing the CPU busy time. I'll mess around with things and see what seems to work best for this laptop (.

If the sigs got better with the window minimized it's hinting the computer
can't keep up with updating the spectrum display. You can try turning it
off,. or turning down the refresh rate -- there's a setting somewhere in
the setup pages that lets you set the refresh rate for the display.
