Robert, Has anything changed with the antenna or radio setup? The symptoms you describe suggest RF getting into the USB line. Seems unlikely with just one watt, how does it work with WSJT driving it

Dave, Something like an Ensemble or 6.3 is good. Digi-modes, especially RX/TX really require a combination of software connected by a Virtual sound utility. My page for Windows and WSJT-X here
