Re: getting software for older RX Ensemble
I see the driver for the 570, but I don't not see the version PEOFKO-USB-driver 1.2.6.0 . . . I think this is my problem. It loads and does everything it should as it loads, I can see its file after it loads . . . but it never shows in the lists of drivers.

You should be able to open Windows Device Manager, look at your USB ports,

Again Thank You all,
I think but am not sure as I said the issue is that "driver" . . . called PE0FKO-USB-Driver-Installer.exe v1.2.6.0 , once I download it how do I know if it went where it suppose to ? I am remembeing the 2011 install after I built the kit . . . I downloaded three things . . . that was it . . . ROCKY, CFGSR_V2.6.msi installer ( not a 2.6 version it had a much lower version number in 2011 ) and the driver, PE0FKO-USB-Driver-Installer.exe v1.2.6.0 And . . . it worked !!! I don't remember "playing" with settings making sure anything went to certain files, etc. It just worked ! If I recall correctly. I'd open ROCKY then the 570 software making sure it was connected . . . and the kit worked ! now I have all three installed but that "driver" thing seems to be "floating in mid-air " ???? I think ??? Again Thanks, Al |

Re: getting software for older RX Ensemble
Thanks to all that responded.
I have the 570 software installed and I remember ROCKY which I got too - now installed, but I am having an issue with this file ( PE0FKO-USB-Driver-Installer.exe v1.2.6.0 ) I also installed the FLEX software PowerSDR software. I can't seem to find away to .exe after I upzip the 1.2.6.0 version software and let it load . . . unless I got this all wrong . . . this thing setup perfect . . . 20 years ago !!! Like I said this RX Ensemble worked great from 2011 - 2018 . . . but it has been in a box since then and since I wanted to reload the software I thought it would be fun to get it going again . . . right now all I get is "hash" from my speakers when I open ROCKY. The ROCKY is doing nothing, it tunes but I hear nothing, etc. I think it is because of that version 1.2.6.0 software not being installed . . . I think ! Thanks to all . . . Al |

I will look, I think I have it? I will try to find it, I have a bunch of those SoftRock radio's and kept all the info and the complete Yahoo file for the MOBO, SoftRock radio projects. If I find it might be best to send directly to you? Please let me know. Chuck Nolin WA6LTV On Thu, Dec 30, 2021 at 10:51 AM al2ok <al2@...> wrote:

getting software for older RX Ensemble
I lost the software for my "old" RX Ensemble , from like back around 2011/12. It has worked flawlessly all these years and was fun to build.
In reloading a fresh version of Windows 10, I lost the software. Where can I find the needed software ? I believe it took three things . . . I think they were . . . PEOFKO-USB-Driver ver. 1.2.6.0 , CFGSR and EXTIO ver 1.1 . . . am I correct ??? I need to know if I got the three things needed correctly named ??? The site I have found on Internet, the links to download the software don't work. Thanks, Al |
Re: Softrock Ensemble II and Raspberry Pi
FWIW, I also tested many cheap chinese $2 eBay sound "dongles" and many of them only had a mono single channel audio input (you need stereo input for IQ SDRs like the softrock).
The cheapest USB sound card that I eventually settled on with stereo Line input, was this one: keywords "usb sound card 5.1" It works fine, but it maxes out at 48kHz. It seems to have a slight audio IQ balance problem when switching between bands, though that could be something else I haven't pinned down yet. TBH the balance problem is probably me being nit picking perfectionist. I haven't checked but I'm guessing any transmit harmonics are low enough to be snuffed out by the output filter. |

I am hearing now, otherwise I would not have said the LSB and USB was swapped. It is probably due to the VFO controlling things and not the HDSDR. I will keep playing with it but I am going to live with it for now. It is not like the Digital / Software / App world where you can connect things with no knowledge of electronics and make it work. I don't believe I said distortion? You said "I can hear something, but no clear output" which suggests distortion. I said the SSB was inverted and I cannotIf you follow the links to help on the HDSDR site you will find my pages. Close to the top (Using HDSDR) it says "Make sure that the IQ Swap (Options - Input Channel Mode for RX) is set correctly." 73 Alan G4ZFQ |
