Nasty TX spurious at LO
Hi All, after having built the Ensemble RXTX for 30/20/17 m, and all tests performed, and compared to LTspice simulation of operating points, everything is just fine: SSB ok, CW ok, tuning ok

Re: Getting back in the game.. Cases?
Hi David, Thanks. I will look into the 3D cases as well.. I can make cases as well out of PCB material too.. I have been away from the group for a bit as we (my wife and I ) are doing Elder care..

After pondering, thinking, and re-thinking over the last few days, I finally came up with a solution for the unun and coax to keep the system out of direct

Guy, I wonder why different frequencies? For higher values? I ask because some criticise meters that measure at low frequencies although for HF values I've not noticed any difference. That one is

Re: LCR recommendations?
Hi Jon, I have a tendency to save my pennies and buy something that is going to last a bit longer than the other $20 LC meters you can get. And.. it is accurate and measures at Multiple Frequencies.

Re: LCR recommendations?
Yes, familiar with them.? In fact, ordered some parts from them at the start of summer for an electronics project.? I don't think they carry the meters being discussed here though. Jon

Andy Thanks for telling me! I've given that link several times in the last few years and nobody has queried it. I finally found a computer where Google did not know me and discovered it is not

Well, I seem to have eliminated the signal loss I was getting and it definitely was from the unun as suspected.? Now I'm finding that I don't want to reseal it in the same way and would prefer a

Re: LCR recommendations?
In the case of inductors the 'unknown' 2uH would have to be in series with the 'known' 100uH. I also use a VK3BHR LC meter. Good for low values, not so good for high values. 73 Nick

Re: LCR recommendations?
Interesting.? What about inductors, insert a known say 100 uH, then an unknown 2 uH?

Re: LCR recommendations?
Good morning, I recently bought one of the cheap LCR-T4, GM328 testers and it works very well (for me anyway). It won't measure under about 30pf. However, if I insert and measure ~100pf cap, then add

Re: something odd
Thanks, I'll give that a try.? I simply wrapped some aluminum foil on the other one that I thought was causing issues, but I don't think this would be as good as the method you describe.

Re: something odd
Hi, You could have M-Type connectors (from Wikipedia): UHF connector (e.g., PL-259/SO-239). Some Japanese manufacturers such as Diamond Antennas use an M-type clone which has the measures and thread

I think I found it today, still the unun.? On one side, the SO239 was more loose than it should have been and this may have been causing ground issues.? Went back and made all connections much

If it comes back, also check what's on the other end. It feels the wiggling too. Maybe a short to something? Andy
