Re: SoftRock RX Ensemble II HF Receive receiving problem

Mike Hi

yes the levels are equal absolutely.( a bit low level but equal )

The one RX II is homemade and the 2 others are premade ..

The difference in frequency ?is about 20khz.

The level is about 20DB? less than the original one and it is in higher frequency.

Can you forwarding to me in direct mail the settings that you are using in both sound card and in Power SDR?

Finally it sounds to me that it may be a wrong setting.

Thank you

Are the sound levels in each channel equal, they should be very close to the same sound level.

?

Did you build this or buy a pre-built RX II?

?

What are the level differences in the LSB and USB signals of the same transmission.? If one signal is 40 or more DB lower than the other it might just be caused by a slight sound level imbalance.? I use a Delta 44 with PowerSDR 2.4.4 with a RX II and don’t notice the “image” signals at all.? Although if I started looking for the image signal I might find some very weak image signals from very strong signals.

Dear Mike Hi

Thank you for your reply.

I am in Stereo in Win.

The sound is present in both channels.

There is no sort circuit in the audio.

I am using the Flex Radio? PowerSDR V 2.4.4 with the Build from SV1EIA.

In the settings of the Delta 44 both channels are working.

I hope that I am replying with? all the details that you have asked for.

Thank you again

You don’t have both sound channels working or there is a big un-balance in the levels or timing of the stereo sound out of the RX II.? You may have windows set to “mono” sound which would cause the same problem.? What SDR software are you using?

Did you build the RX II?

Jim,
OK, makes sense...
I wasn't sure I understood this statement in the Rev B asm instructions...so that's why I asked.

'Note: The photo shows a Rev A PCB, on the Rev B PCB T201 is rotated 90 degrees and this core is wound with RG-174 not RG-316 the soldering method and final mounting look the same.'

Thanks for the clarification...Glad I didn't have to re-do it.

Hi Lee,

Yes the 'brass' colored one is RG-316 and uses teflon insulation so it's used in the transformer where it might get very jot. The other piece is the much less expensive RG-174, it's black, and is much more vulnerable to heat so take care when you solder it.

Re: CAPACITOR LOCATIONS.

If your concern is with how the board denotes the positive and negative leads, the diagram shown on the referenced web page shows this with a "+" sign silk-screened adjacent to the positive hole, such that the positive "side" of each cap faces inward and the grey banded negative "side" faces outward:

The completed board photo at the bottom of the referenced page shows the caps installed (the grey bands are the negative "sides" of the caps:

Re: Question on HardRock Driver asm

Jim,
Question has come up on the Driver board build...
This is from the asm manual.
?
'Note: The photo shows a Rev A PCB, on the Rev B PCB T201 is rotated 90 degrees and this core is wound with RG-174 not RG-316 the soldering method and final mounting look the same.'
?
In my kit there was 2 pieces of coax, 1 was 3" long (the other 6" long and black)?and brass color...that is the one I used.
I used the 3" brass colored coax!
?
Is this correct?
?
Thanks,
73,
Lee

Hi Lee,

Here's a photo showing where the leads of L201 go. Are you using the amp stand alone? If so you should use L202/203, C213,214 and 215 to make a bandpass filter for the bands you intend to operate. L201 and the caps that are on the PCB are designed for 6M and do not provide the -60 dB attenuation required by the FCC. I can help you with filters if necessary.

Re: Question on HardRock Driver asm

Jim,
Thanks so very much for the help.
I am using it with my HR-50.
I just got the kits last week and I am working to build them now.
?
I would L201 just like the photo shows...I had guessed the correct holes to use, but waited for clarification before soldering in.
The left hand wire comes out a little towards the center of the doughnut...is that correct.
?
I have include a photo to be sure I have it correct (attached)
?

I don't know it this will help but I run Win 7 64bit at 96khz. This issue was covered in the SVIEIA group
you can't run the current driver it only supports 48khz? Go to the Dell site and find 5.10.0.5074
