Re: why am I getting broadcast band image stations below AM broadcast on LF Ensemble?
Roger, Not really IMD. A characteristic of sampling receivers. Softrocks and many other SDRs will respond to signals at odd multiples of the tuned frequency. One sample in every three, or five etc.

Re: why am I getting broadcast band image stations below AM broadcast on LF Ensemble?
Thanks for the comments Jon. Another tip, any preamp or active antenna will increase the IMD problem with strong stns (unless there is a good filter in front of the preamp to attenuate the strong

Re: why am I getting broadcast band image stations below AM broadcast on LF Ensemble?
Thanks, Roger.? Yes, I sort of surmised this and was looking into bandstop filters earlier today.? Disappointed to say the least, especially on a shoestring budget.? Too bad I didn't run into these

Re: why am I getting broadcast band image stations below AM broadcast on LF Ensemble?
I live near several strong AM BC stations and had the same intermod (IMD) problem. In my situation I was operating a modified RXTX on 630 and 2200m. To eliminate the IMD I needed to build a bandpass

Re: images on both sides of center with preamp?
"Too much gain" was my first thought. That will certainly do it. Put an attenuator inline. I use an old 2k pot. 73 Mike W0BTU >

Re: installing dual LF/HF Ensemble II's on desktop?
Hello JonI, Thursday, June 24, 2021 I believe you will have to run multiple sound cards, that's how do it. Best regards, Chris 2E0ILY mailto:chris@... Jvgi> Ok, finally

Re: installing dual LF/HF Ensemble II's on desktop?
Jon, As mentioned on my page the init tab does not read the Softrock. Is it possible to split the cable from the sound card and Possibly not a good idea. A second USB sound device is easy, then both

Which indicates a bad preamp or just too much gain.

Re: why am I getting broadcast band image stations below AM broadcast on LF Ensemble?
Many SDRs respond to strong signals at odd multiples of the tuned frequency. To stop this an extra LPF or notch filters are required. Often juggling the LO frequency can shift the interfering signal

No, not at all.

why am I getting broadcast band image stations below AM broadcast on LF Ensemble?
Didn't notice this behavior this afternoon, but tonight I seem to be getting quite a few broadcast station images, especially between 350 to 500 Khz on LF Ensemble.? I can still hear longwave

Re: images on both sides of center with preamp?
No, two totally different preamps.? I get images on the one as well as differing gain per band (not a steady increasing gain with higher HF) and also doubling/ tripling of stations.? The other

Re: images on both sides of center with preamp?
Sounds like you might have power supply noise on that preamp mixing in and generating sidebands. Are these two different models of preamp, or two copies of the same circuit?

Re: installing dual LF/HF Ensemble II's on desktop?
Ok, finally got it!? Thanks! What was throwing me off was that in HDSDR when I brought up CFGSR and went to the "Init" tab, try to set one SDR or the other as HF or LF, it would default back to HF no

Thanks, Bob.? Although my light is a tiny 15 watt one, I still want to try one of the filters inline and glad you specified filter type as I wanted to install a 2 stage one.? I also have a cordless

Would appreciate direction on this.? Right now, I turn off the desktop, plug in either SDR, reboot, then select the correct one in HDSDR's "init" tab, reboot and then the right one is there.? I

Re: a day of tracking down and eliminating interference
Surplus EMI filters work pretty good at suppressing the noise. This was my fix for Rural King shop lights that I installed in some of my repeater sites where I also have HF remote stations.
