Hi all, I noted that Christy and Mandy are connected to Tibetan Buddhist centers and so am I. There are a group of 3 temples in Howell NJ which were started by the Kalmyk Mongolian community. There is also a temple and large learning center in Washington, NJ and several centers in NY state. Thanks Christy on letting me know that what sounds like Buddhism has a very vibrant presence in Arkansas, that I will have to pay a visit to one of these days.? I studied Asian Cultures and the concept of the Heart/Mind in Chinese Confucianism resonates with me as well. As important as the mind is, Mencius--Confucius' philosophical successor--favored the heart because it was capable of expanding exponentially. I feel it is that played out taking this course.? I’m not to sure how I do this but I want to register our Catholic Worker community as a sacred space on your site. I have enjoyed the course immensely esp. the first video. It’s so important that we find ways to gather together to share our common humanity. Thanks for all of your ideas etc. sorry but I could not master the discussion format. I still don’t know how to join the chat. But have followed the manual and videos closely. Our group is the Manawatu Catholic Workers, and the address is: 316 Napier road, RD10, Palmerston North, NZ 4470 (As you will probably know the Catholic Worker movement was started in your country by Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin ) Our group meets the defining characteristics for a S P. We are based around offering accommodation and hospitality, have a strong contemplative dimension and our meetings have an element of a listening circle. Our teaching is from the Gospel of the day and from All Saints by Robert Ellsberg. We have one main meeting every Friday, finishing with a pot luck meal. We also have a men’s breakfast on Sunday mornings. I have received emails from the charter for Compassion for some years so I think it’s about time I register with them. I have a small space that is set up for meditation and that is my Sacred Space that I share on a weekly basis. Teresa's work will now be a guide for going forward.? |

Hello All,
A group of women came to my house yesterday for our first meeting focusing on Creating Compassionate Communities. We began by reading the Sacred Space Vision and Purpose then a facilitator led a book group. We ended the meeting with a quiet contemplative time. It was lovely. The feedback from the group and interest in the Sacred Space concept was positive. I’m so grateful to Teresa Cowan Jones for her vision and for this connection. Many thanks Courtney Davis |
