Backyard birds
Morris got all these shots this morning from our kitchen window! We have a huge mound of daisies in one of our planter boxes that blooms all winter and there’s now a large hole in the middle of the bush. We think one of our rescue feral cats jumped in to try to catch a bird because we see all kinds of little birds in there all the time. I put a solar light in the middle of the hole to discourage cats from jumping in there but fortunately, it doesn’t deter the birds!

As soon as I saw the Wilson's Warbler, I thought of the song "Yellow Bird" sung by The Brothers Four.? ?? lol?? I never know where these bird pictures will take me. Often times down memory lane. :-)

Charming and beautiful, especially the colors on the warbler--so nice to see in the winter! Hope the cats find other suitable meals.

That Wilson's Warbler is a nice find for this time of year. We don't get a lot of winter records. As one of the county eBird reviewers I really hope you put a list in with this great photo documentation.? 开云体育?Hi again, Cliff– never know whether to reply just to the sender or the whole group but wanted to let you and others know that Morris had already reported the Wilson’s warbler through MerlinBirdID.com and it seems that they overlap with ebirds.com because his sightings were already listed. Since they’re both part of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology group, Morris said they must cross-pollinate.... ? The other listing Morris submitted was of a juvenile black-crowned night heron (see photo below) but although we had never seen such a bird in our frequent evening walks along the Pocket Canal Parkway, we were told they are common!?But it said the Wilson’s warbler was rare so I guess that’s a good criteria to go by.... Thanks again for your help,? Di and Morris? On Dec 28, 2020, at 9:25 PM, Clifford Hawley <yellowhammerCA@...> wrote:
