A friend spotted this bird along the Pocket Canal at the ¡°Golden Hour¡± and texted us this photo. We got there as soon as we could but by then it was the ¡°Blue Hour¡± so none of these photos may be true to color. Our Merlin app identified these photos as a Black-crowned Night Heron but none of the pictures in any of our bird books matched our photos. Hoping one of you out there can help us identify this beautiful creature! He or she had the most distinctive single long white feather on the back of his/her head- very elegant! He or she stayed out there looking for dinner till well after dark but was initially spotted well before dark so not sure if (s)he¡¯s a night heron or not¡
