I thought surely last evening there would have been a lot of fire works and such going on in San Angelo and it would make the national news. If my calendar serves me right, wasn't it exactly 60 years ago yesterday that we got to cross the stage and receive our diplomas? I found it amusing and amazing when I checked my Handy Ref and saw that 1964 and 2024 were both leap years. Anyway, congratulations, Graduates, we made it sixty years and going strong. John T. Finally got'er done
Although it has been hot and quite humid here in Selma, TX, I finally got the pressure washer out and gave our front porch, sidewalk, drive way, front sidewalks, curbs and back patio a very thorough and much needed bath. We have two oak trees in the front yard, one on either side of the driveway so I needed to wait until all the acorns have dropped, the leaves have been collected and all the oak tassels have fallen before I attempt to get the pressure washing done. Now, I can sit on the front porch and watch the squirrels playing in the trees and not worry about that project. I guess it is a good thing I fired up the pressure washer to see if it worked since we have a work day at the church on Saturday and, guess what, we are going to be pressure washing all the concrete around the church. We usually have five or six men show up with their pressure washers so it makes it go pretty smooth and sure looks better once we are done. Now, to just rest up until Saturday. Oh, wait, I need to go to Lowe's to get some hose bib splitters for Saturday so two hoses can be run from each hose bib (faucet). John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Pretty View 6
Today while I was cutting the grass in the back yard, I was treated to a very pretty view over the back fence looking towards the street. I have contemplated many times cutting the two crepe myrtles down but I believe they have finally reached a level of maturity that will insure there staying in place for a while longer. What do all y'all think? John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. I went down to the hospital this morning to check up on Ron. He had his surgery yesterday and is doing pretty good. He is on some powerful pain meds in his IV. Vivian told me that Ron will spend the weekend at ¡°Mother¡± Shannon. I think he is going to be OK in time. Keep praying for them. Mickey

Ron's Ramblin 11
Rain! Rain! Rain! Praise Be to God on High! It started last night and now at 0648 it is pouring down! Now, I am smiling because the pastures are plowed and waiting for seed!! I was very upset yesterday with someone in the doctor's office at San Antonio. They failed to tell me not to take two of my regular meds for six days prior to the surgery scheduled yesterday at 0830. Let's see, $100 dollars for a room and $100 dollars for fuel. That person's mistake cost me money, Time, and above all, oh well I just screamed and yelled at Grumpy and what did she do???? See the picture on my FB site! I am going to stick to Shannon Hospital where I can go eyeball to eyeball with the doctor and staff and not wait days for return phone calls. June 5 is out for me. That is training day up in Dallas for Baptist Men's Disaster Response Team. Lara, make sure the other classmates behave!! I loved that smiling face at the Rodeo parade??. Thanking Our Lord and Savior for the much needed rain. Happy Trails to YOU till we meet again. Ronnie

Interesting Church Work Day
Saturday was our regularly scheduled work day at the church and several "old guys" showed up. I had already put the word out that we would be converting three 4-lamp, 4' fluorescent light fixtures from T12 (big diameter bulb) to T8 (small diameter bulb) which requires that the lights had to be taken apart down to the metal shell and then rebuilt, including the "tombstones" that are the actual bulb holders at either end of the bulbs. Since these fixtures have been in use for quite some time, it is safer and easier to use new "tombstones" to facilitate the wiring from the new ballasts. The old "tombstones" are usually ready for replacement anyway as they become brittle with age and heat and can cause problems when you might need to change bulbs. Our original goal was to change out three fixtures but when we got the third one finished and turned on the lights, another light began to flicker pretty badly. We moved the ladder to the fourth fixture and took it apart as well and rebuilt it. At least, now all four light fixtures work perfectly giving more light but using less power and the bulbs will last longer than the older ones. Now that I have bored you to tears, I just want to tell you one more thing. If you have fluorescent lights in your house and they use the bigger T12 bulbs, be aware that most of the bulb makers are gradually phasing out that size bulb. I have no idea how this will affect the price in the future but it is something to think about. If and when you may need to replace them, you can either get them "rebuilt" to accommodate the smaller diameter T8 bulb or have the fixture "rebuilt" to accommodate a T8 size LED bulb. Okay, now you can get that nap you have been wanting since you opened this email. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. Unusual Date
Did you happen to notice the way today's date appears, 04/14/24. Now, don't start looking for 34 to appear any time soon. By the way, I guess we owe February a "thank you". If it wasn't for the extra day in February, we would have had to contend with a "Friday the thirteenth" this past Friday. For me, Friday the thirteenth has not been such an unlucky day. Twice I received news of a new job offer on that date and, oh, yes, one of my divorces came on that day also. Um, now I wonder what good luck might have come my way if it wasn't for that extra day in February. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Eclipse Return 10
Since we had such cloud cover yesterday during the eclipse, when I got up this morning, I thought the eclipse had returned. As it turned out, it was just more cloud cover but we did get a very brief rain shower. For our eclipse adventure yesterday, I went out on the back porch and saw that it had gotten dark enough that all of the solar lights on the fence had turned on. After that excitement, I went back in and watched it on TV. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. Four classmates 4
My Aunt Rie is 100 today. We gave her a party Saturday at Harris Avenue Baptist Church where she and my mom were members for decades. I started Sunday School there in the 1950's and these friends/classmates were in my class. Linda Stewart Atkinson worked with my aunt at CNB. Barbara Scott Hudgens and Barbara Jones Loudamy knew her kids: Jimmy, Nancy and Beverly. Sent from AT&T Yahoo Mail on Android

Back In San Angelo 4
Got back to San Angelo this morning and tomorrow my nephew and I will go up to Abilene to Hendrick North Hospital to visit with my sister. She went to the ER with pain in her abdomen and was admitted and a day or two later, she was operated on to remove part of her bowel that was dead. The doctor told her later that he had saved her life because if she had waited one more day to come in, she would have died. That is just too scary to think about. We will be coming back to San Angelo tomorrow afternoon/evening and then I will go home on Friday. One nice thing about the drive to San Angelo was getting to see all the wild flowers along the way. I could be a bit prejudiced but I did think they got prettier the closer I got to my old home town. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Murdoch's
I've been getting catalogue/flyers from a store called Murdoch's so today I took some time and went there just to see what all they had. It seemed a lot like a rearranged Tractor Supply but I was impressed with the stock of DeWalt tools and accessories for them. Also a pretty extensive group of Milwaukee tools and accessories. Of course, they have lots of farm and ranch items that are pretty common things needed in those places as well as in houses. They have a lot of nice western clothing but the prices seemed a mite steep although the items looked to be quality items. At least now I know what they have and if, one day, I need something at least I know where I can get it. If you get a chance and are in the mood, take time to go to one of the stores and look around.
