This Robust Packet Radio Group is devoted to supporting and advancing the use of Robust Packet (RP) radio protocol and gear on the HF bands. This includes the following RP enabled modems:
SCS Tracker DSP TNC
SCS PTC controllers that support RP.
SCS DR-7400 & DR-7800 Dragon Pactor modems with RP enabled firmware.
WinRPR software modem*
Teensy RPRTNC*

* These projects and associated software/hardware modems are "alpha" in nature (not even beta) and in initial development stages. As such, they are for advanced packet ops comfortable with working with such gear/software modems.
We are not a general packet radio, VARA, or Pactor group. Other groups already exist to serve those interests.
?
If you are a ham interested in experimenting with the HF Robust Packet please feel free to join up. Most discussion revolves around HF RP APRS, RP BBS systems, RP keyboarding/chat, and RP software. This mailing list is open but restricted* to licensed amateur radio operators.
10.1473 MHz USB dial is the primary global RP APRS "on-net" frequency. There are several full-time I-gates active on this QRG in NOAM and EU, but more are needed in other areas. Off-Net APRS, RP BBS, and RP keyboarding activities utilize a variety of frequencies across the HF bands.
RULE 1:? Keep content clean, family friendly, and at least halfway relevant to robust packet radio operations/gear. No politics or religious discussions allowed. Vigorous respectful debate of a hot topic/idea is one thing, but personal attacks will get you banned.
RULE 2: Unless it is obvious from your email address be sure to set your Groups.io username to include your callsign*. Otherwise your membership may be rejected as for all the list admins know you could be a spammer trying to join. Requests from the free email providers tend to be where many of these malicious/spammers come from, thus requests from those domains will be subject to extra scrutiny such as callsign and official name matches, etc. The list admins (unpaid volunteers) are not going to waste their valuable time trying to figure out if you are even a licensed ham or not.??

* Callsign & Name showing may soon be mandatory.
RULE 3:? Due to a few folks wasting list admin time by unsubscribing and later rejoining, there are no automatic rejoins. Rejoins will generally be restricted to those with a history of significant contributions to the RP mailing list and run full-time RP infrastructure, or are active RP software devs. Those may reach out to the list owner with their rejoin request. Otherwise, outside of exceptional circumstances, rejoin requests hit the "ignore" filters. Put bluntly, please don't join a mailing list if you don't want to get emails and participate in a productive way.
RULE 4:? Accounts whose email address are "bouncing" are subject from periodic purging from the group.
NOTE 1:? If a particularly busy thread is bugging you then just "mute" it using the link provided at the end or via the group's web interface. More and more RPR chatter is done "direct" or on APRS/BBS/Chat RF networks (hams using radio vs inet = imagine that!) the list activity tends to come and go in bursts that calm down quickly.
?
NOTE 2:? What if my email address changes?? Just login to your Groups.io account, click on Account, and change it there.
NOTE 3:? Packet radio is a small facet of ham radio. Robust Packet is just a small facet of packet radio. Robust Packet is used for a wide variety of needs and interests. Please remember that what interests you may be of zero interest to others. Yes, unfortunately that needed to be said. Welcome to ham radio in the 2020's LOL.
