Recording repeater audio
Audio Grabber....VOX operated, splits files on start/stop and can save as MP3s.....and it's free! Can set save location?local or on cloud iirc...have been using it for almost?20 yrs On Mon, Apr 28, 2025 at 11:41?AM Mark Swanson via <markhswanson=[email protected]> wrote:

I use a registered version or Recall, and have been doing that since 1996 (and still have all the audio files, so almost 30 years now).? I don't save to the cloud though, but easily could serve them up with some code. It's run on all windows NT through Win 11.? So by experience, that would be my recommendation. We are currently in the trial version of using from NCH on the school repeaters that I'm responsible for.? I've used different softwares from NCH over the years and I've always been pleased.? So far, we look to buy the paid version of this one.? I have a donor radio audio routed into an existing PC, and the software uses voice activation.? I haven't tried it yet, but it has the feature of setting an external trigger to initiate recording.? We use both Motorola and Kenwood and both have the capability for an external pin activation on PL/DPL Tone detect or TG detect (we are on DMR). |
That's the problem with NCH. The trial versions are free but then you have to pay for it. Audio Grabber is free and is Vox operated, doesn't need a COS signal, splits the audio up into separate files and time stamps them. It's a great little program that I've used for 20 years On Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 8:18?AM Nathan Williams via <ndwilliams1950=[email protected]> wrote:

I use broadcastify.com
I have my feeds set up to remove dead air time. This allows me to quickly review past activity using the Archive feature without going through lots of dead airtime. The downfall to this is that you cannot determine exactly what time the recording happened, only the 1/2 hour segment that it occurred in. The smartphone app makes this easy to use. As a feed provider you get a free premium subscription on Broadcastify.com AND RadioReference.com. You must keep a feed active. 73, Joe, K1ike |
I did it all years ago with a Pi and a donor radio.? Some scripts that were available at the time possibly called 'scanner recorder' or similar.? It would record in hour long segments as mp3.? I modified it to detect and remove silence and then save that as copy.? At the end of the day I could quickly listen to what I had missed out on through the day.? Its all lost now.
?
Now that I run AllStarLink, I have used the built in feature in there to record files, though on older Pi 2 builds it causes audio quality problems.? Maybe by using outstreamcmd, a stream could be sent somewhere and processed external to the Pi.
