Motorola DMR Repeaters

This topic might be a little personal preference to some people.????? What I'm looking for is the following.
?
1. Which models of Motorola gear will work best in the ham radio DMR space.?? Example: Motorola model 5000E with Serial number X to Y works well.
2. Which models are most likely to show up in the used market for ham use.
3. Which one will hook up to DMR network without having to jury rig everything.??
?
I'm not as familiar with the Motorola gear as I as I am with Hyteria and Kenwood.
?
Thanks!

Hi Steven, I have used the Motorola XPR8300 and currently have the SLR 5700 on the air. Make sure you get the ones that say 403 to 470 MHz. And whatever seabridge you're connecting to, which is what I'm doing, you just need to get the configuration from the seabridge administrator and set the cold plug up so we'll connect to the seabridge. You don't have to connect anything else up to the repeater other than the Cable for your Internet.

I inherited an XPR8300, ham range, and I'm attempting to restore it. The TX board sustained apparent high heat with a scorched board and several SM components lifted from the traces.?

It is apparent that both the receiver and transmitter boards are simply repackaged mobile units. Where can I find a used/working TX board?

I don't have SM board-level soldering equipment to repair it and I'm not sure a board level repair would even be possible.?

I have the full maintenance manual and could trace it out, but not sure what it would take to repair it.?

I could not find a source for a TX board replacement and could not find the model of the mobile board used in this application.?

Motorola did a lousy job convincing a mobile board to pretend to be a high-duty cycle device.

Constructive criticism/assistance is welcomed.?

I don't have any resources for those boards. Good luck on that. I would recommend the SLR 5700 if a person had to buy a new one, I've had that for almost a year working flawlessly. I have a back up one of the same model, SLR 5700, in the box.

I’m more of a Quantar guy but recently acquired a UHF MTR3000 and it’s a purpose built 100w continuous duty machine. I’m not a fan of the two mobiles in a box approach of the XPR series.?

Steve,?

You can swap your TX and RX chassis. Just read them first then reprogram. Both internal chassis are a full blown transceiver.?

The xpr systems are easy to setup actually. I went through living hell trying to figure mine but by the time I got to my 3rd one it was easy.?
the replacement boards are available BARELY on alibaba for just over 101$. But tryiole check your numbers and you can sorta find them.?
my vhf xor8400 wouldn’t work on dmr so I purchased the conventional personality option and it works so well on vhf as wide band.?

Hey Steven, I probably wouldn't spend that much for a used one, maybe offer him 2000 since it says make an offer. I bought mine brand new about a year ago for 3000. I have an extra one in the box that I bought an eBay for 1083 but that was for parts are not working and I spent $645 for a flat rate repair for Motorola.
