Hi all, ? I am running an Arcom rc210 repeater controller at a tower site that has no phone line, and I don’t want to pay for one. ? Is there a way to use a data package from an ISP over the cellular network to connect to the autopatch and controller? ? This is a fairly new venture for me so I have no clue how to make this work. ? I suppose I could use Magic Jack, but would I need a router to connect to the Cellular network then hardwire into the controller? ? Thanks, ? Chad WI9HF

Verizon makes a cellular to landline adapter, I thought it was something like $49 for the device and then it just used your current cellular plan.? Have one at a site now and works good, even has a built in battery backup.
I'd imagine AT&T has something similar.

ATT does have a special tarrif for amateur radio use...if you have a repeater at a commercial tower, you can get residential rate on the phone line and Internet service if it's copper. Of course ATT wants to sunset copper by 2030 so that could change. I did it at a local club station....phone and 3mb DSL for $15/month..granted that was back in 2008...but it's much cheaper than commercial rates
Might want to check into it...ATT Texas did it...not sure if their other states did but they should

I use a Grandstream (brand)? "box" for my second line.? It's on my network (LAN), hence, internet. It plays well with my other devices on my LAN as well.? So, from IP to a POTS line loop start, like we had in the 1960's. Your ISP could set it up for access to the PSTN.

Many cell phone carriers have a plan to "add" a line for $10/month if you already have service.? Some do have phone to cell interface, might have to buy it.? Just plug the RG11 from your autopatch into the box and can make phone calls.? Check yur cell service.

Hi, I'm getting an AT&T US cellular to home phone interface box which probably would work, connect to the phone via Bluetooth. Someone at Walmart in the electronics department who was associated with their cell phone service says I don't want to keep a cell phone plugged in indefinitely because it could blow up the battery or start a fire. Because this is going to be at a remote tower site that I don't really have access to every day. Chad Nelson WI9HF/WRPL979 Janesville Wisconsin 608-754-8671 Send from my spectrum iPhone 16.

If you have internet access on site,?
will serve you a phone line that you can use with a simple ATA like the Grandstream ht801 for a ridicule price of 90 cent for the telephone number per month and half a cent per minute of usage?of the line.? here is the total pricing
Starting at $ 0.0052 / min $ 0.009 / min ? Call Recording? $ 0.0025 / min $ 0.0025 / min Call Transcriptions? $ 0.05 / min $ 0.05 / min CNAM Query? N/A $ 0.008 / call Directory Assistance (411)? $ 0.99 / call N/A Voicemail Transcription? N/A $ 0.05 / min
A local call is anywhere in the USA/Canada/Mexico.?
You can also control by the dashboard what phone number can be reached or limit a lot of stuff.?
A used ATA can go for as less as 5$. You can connect any phone device on those line be it a fax, a modem, a repeater.?
Or you can go with a contract of 5$ a month for illimited call.?
If you want to use my referal?link you can have a nice credit and me also.. If not, I dont?care!!

Wow, quite a bit of good ideas here, almost gets overwhelming to know which one to choose lol. If that one device, the ADA that Pierre was talking about sounds like that doesn't use the Internet, but there's no Internet at the site, that would be another expense. My main concern is if I use The ?cellular to landline converter, I'd have to use a cell phone and leaving the charger plugged in 100% of the time for months on end bothers me if it would explode the battery. Any thoughts about that? My thought is plug the charger cord into a light timer and have it timed the charge up for a few hours in the evening and shut off. Chad,
the LVP2 is actually a cellphone with an RJ-11 jack for analog
phones.??
?
It's designed to be powered on 7/24
Only downside is if your repeater controller is expecting an open
loop or CPC when the far end hangs up (CPC)?? - this boxes does
not generate CPC or an open loop.??
Buy a used one from eBAY and a pre-paid SIM to test it.
