GE Delta/Rangr programming

I have several Deltas and Rangrs that I need to program to eventually use as link or node radios. They both use the X2212 that stores the frequencies. I seen in years past there were a few different devices that people have made up along with software. However most of the links online don’t work. The only 2 things I have found online is one made by KG4LNE and he has a GitHub with the schematic. But I have no idea what software that uses??
The second one I saw was built by NHRC. It’s called the PXP and it also has a GitHub that has the software and schematic and hex file to load into the pic microcontroller. I built the PXP from scratch and for the life of me can’t get it to read or write to the X2212…the software does recognize the pic controller to be correct. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I rebuilt it 3 different times with the same result.
Are there any other ways to program the x2212 that I’m not seeing?
?
(I have the basic control head not the smart one)

Last time I've programmed a GE Delta was from a commodore vic 20 before the shop closed. The DELTA was a great radio in it days and very reliable units

Tyler,

Ask around to see if any of the older 2-way shops
still have a TQ2312 *suitcase* programmer. I have 2
of them which still work :)

If you don't plan to change frequencies, you don't need
any type of head. The channels can be selected using
BCD on the main connector.

I think Jeff has one as well.

Tyler,?

Not that it helps in this situation, but I have an extra TQ3312 PC programming interface (which I thought worked with the Rangr) that I'm willing to part with. I don't need two. I also have a NOS low band (40-50mhz) Rangr in its original box if you're interested.?

Speaking of suitcase programmers, I've now acquired 3 Motorola R1801's which I certainly don't need all (or perhaps any) of.?

Apologies if I'm inadvertantly hijacking the thread.?

Back when I wrote the programmers for Phoenix and Delta, I used information including LBI31266B (Phoenix SX), LBI31360B (Phoenix SX scan), and a text file from the internet "GE Delta / Delta-SX EEPROM Documentation" by KA9FUR -- the site is now defunct.? The file was called "DeltaEEPROM.html".? There may be similar documentation for RANGR.
?
Since I did not have a real Delta SX on which to test, I believe I compared the output of my Windows program to that which was produced by the old "Niles" DOS software.
?
Also the PXP-Raw program (which only reads and writes binary data from the X2212) would work with data files emitted by the Niles software.? It has been 25 years, so I do not remember for sure.?

Tyler,?

I was mistaken on the par number. I have two models of radio interface here: TQ3370 and TQ3330.?

The TQ3330 is marked RANGR/DELTA with a cable. I have two TQ3370s (one new in a sealed bag) and some assorted cables. I remember reading somewhere that the newer interface would only program EDACS versions on the RANGR. Should be able to search those part numbers for more info. I believe there's another groups up forum for GE/Ericsson/Tyco/MACom/Harris with more info as well.?

I was finally able to program the rangr with raw hex data. I used deltaprg and the nrhcpxp software to get the values I needed and where they needed to be. Of course, neither one of them were correct on frequency, but they were closed so I could go up or down little by little to get where I needed to be after about 30+ rewrite to a couple different x2212’s and some Vco modifications I now have a 420mhz rangr working great on my Allstar node that’s on 433.575/438.575 110.9

It would not transmit at 438. I added a capacitor on the VCO and was able to tune up nicely. Receive has great sensitivity at 433 as well.

It was originally at 408-417mhz.

So now I can program the Delta’s and rangr’s?
I don’t have a Phoenix, but I imagine I could get that as well if needed.

Hey Jeremy, do you still have the Rangr? Is it ready to go on 50MHz FM ? We're trying to setup some local links for packet but I'd love to get a 50Mhz repeater online.?

Hi Tim,?

The RANGR is still available. Message me offline JeremyHansen27 at Gmail and we can work out the details.?
