Using a terminal program such as putty, teraterm or real term open the
programming com port at 9600, N, 8, 1 and no handshaking
Turn on the station and you should see a few lines as it boots up and

Re: Wanted: UHF Low-Split (403-435 or thereabouts) BpBr Station Duplexers
Still need these? I recently acquired a Decibel products duplexer in this range that won't tune high enough for 440mhz.

Re: DR1XFR and DR2X Analysis
The FTM-400 series similar to what's in the DR-2X receives 108 through 1GHz and no tight helical filters like some of the older rigs.

Re: Motorola R100 Frequency Choice
I'm partial to low-in, high out (Repeater TX high, RX low in other words) as it puts your input further away from higher-power users in the lower 450MHz spectrum (remember, 450-455 is an *output* band

Re: DR1XFR and DR2X Analysis
Your spectrum images show almost exactly what I was saying. When I said
"not a huge difference", I meant comparing the duplexer attenuation by
itself to what the bandpass filter was by itself at 5 mhz

Re: Cracklies
It doesn't appear to be wind related. It can be windy as heck up there and absolutely no noise of any type. It can be calm (as it was when I recorded that) and it makes noise.

Re: Cracklies
Sounds to me like an intermittent in part of the antenna moving somewhat in the wind, because of the cracklies gaps say when the wind up at the tower subsides a for a second.
