Re: THREAT TO 222-225MHz Spectrum
Consider this is a test of our resolve by those who stand to gain financial gain from the selling of the spectrum.? They will infringe on the known spectrum of radio amateurs to see how many squawk and file paperwork with their regional FCC Field office and then with the FCC HQ.? If the noise is weak to moderate, they move forward with their intended agenda to confiscate that particular section of spectrum at a very advantageous price.? Get busy writing to your Regional Field Office and the National HQ of the FCC and demand the protection of our spectrum that is used for a public service of backup communications. TPL PA6-1AE UHF amp
开云体育Hi all, ? I have the TPL PA6-1AE UHF repeater amp in stock here. Curious if anyone knows if the imput drive can be adjusted to support 10W drive instead of 5W? ? A radio tech looked at it and said that Kenwood TKR 850 repeaters don’t drive that amp well at 5 watts because the output at the low power setting bounces around and it can vary above 5W and fry the amp. ? If I can’t find any documentation on how to increase the drive input I will be looking for an amp that will accept 10W input, and have my current one up for sale. ? Thanks, ? Chad ? |
Re: THREAT TO 222-225MHz Spectrum
开云体育I consider this a National Threat because it started in Los Angeles where it’s cause great interference to the 222-225MHz spectrum and is now moving to Southwestern Arizona. Please remember Amateur Radio is primary on this spectrum, we do not share it will the military. This experimentation should be conducted on NTIA Frequencies in military assigned spectrum Not Radio Amateur spectrum. While some HAMs don’t use the 222 MHz spectrum like other areas do it’s still spectrum assigned to us and where operations such as pavepaws military UHF Radar has reduced UHF HAM operations, Note Sacramento, CA the 222-225MHz is a viable band for weak signal and repeater operations without radar. If you experience interference, please use the link included in my letter to submit a complaint it’s the only way to stop the incursion and protect our spectrum. +1 to that.

You know, the ARRL isn't the end-all, be-all of amateur radio. No reason that a well-meaning group couldn't start another national association and weed out the corporate greed.

Re: Quantar Extender Cables
Uh, what? You've got a bent up chassis then. I've never had issues like that and I've worked on hundreds of the things. The SCM and WL cards can be a bit of a pain but still don't require that level of force...

Re: Antenna Thoughts and Suggestions
开云体育For temporary, I would just install a Comet GP3? dual band antenna.? We had one at about 250 ft for 30 yrs with no problems in operation.? When our DB224 antenna failed we moved the repeater over to the comet GP3 diplexed with a UHF link and it played just fine for 10 years until we could fund a climb. The replacement for the db224 was a Telewave with both VHF and UHF loops on the same mast. ????? ? John Lock KF0M Kf0m@... ? Get a duplexer and go with the DB408 at the top...don't use LMR cable...get 1/2 in or bigger HELIAX... Chris WB5ITT On Mon, Mar 31, 2025, 8:36 AM wj9jrg via <wj9jrg=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Antenna Thoughts and Suggestions
By removing the tip on the DB-408, and putting the Ringo on, you are decreasing the lightning protection.?? Also, by putting the ringo on, you are also inviting lightning.?? I would instead, just install the 408 and be done with it.?? If you want to see the coverage, you can set up an account at and model there for free. With the height you are stating it will work well.?Have you made the application for a frequency from the txvhf fm society website yet?? Re: 6 m repeater antenna
The trick is to start with where you go far enough from the exposed end where you find the braid that is still shiny, just solder through goop and use silver plated? not nickel? plated? connectors, and a real iron of at least 100W (no solder gun)

Re: 6 m repeater antenna
Yes indeed, so do I after the length is determined with a hose clamp. Easier to waterproof the connection and less ice accumulation.?
