Would a gamma matched dipole be dc grounded?
I would put the folded dipole up.
***

2) What is the best way to orient the antennas on the tower?
***
I would put up a DB 228. As to the way to put it on the tower?
Just as DB says to! Go to ther web sit an look an see what fills
your needs.

dipole?

All comments welcome!

I would'en use a fiberglas ant. of any typ to duplex on.
They just don't work as well in duplex as do folded dipoles.
An I know of a lot of repeaters useing fiberglas ant's but the folded
dipole
well work better in duplex.
As I'am new to the list I don't know what most of you use or like.
This is just what I'ev found to be true in the repeaters I'ev been around.
Research is a lot cheaper than replacement!

INFO

Alex Groza

I have seen several internet web pages dealing with
repeater conversions. The two I see most often are the
KUGGIE and SEITS web pages.

Several different methods are listed throughout the web
for converting the Mitrek and GE Mastr II series radios
to repeaters.

I am especially interested in a very good Mitrek
repeater conversion. This would include all internal
mods, PL, COR, cable connections, etc..... This is for
voice, not packet. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Alex

VHF Mobile Micors

Randy Nelson

I have two 100 watt VHF Micors for sale. Originally got them for a
repeater project that didn't materialize. Channel elements are included
as well as the main harness. Also have some control heads somewhere
too.
These were removed from service in an ambulance service and are both
very clean.

$100 each for $ 175 for both OBO.

Have Problems i have obtain another GE Mater II UHF repeater

dead !!!!
i have check the 10v regulator card in another repeater and
it works
great i have found out that the control board does have 13.8
volts
applied to it probing at the orange wire and found a problem
the Red
wire on the control board harness is dead i believe this is
the 10v am i
correct ... i have also checked lug terminal #9 10v on the
back of the
repeater and it is good 10.1volts but somewhere in between i
lost 10
volts any ideas to what may be the problem or how to approach
it

Re: [REPEATERS] Repeater Builder List Server

Kevin K. Custer W3KKC

Hello Chris and All,
My comments to Chris' opinions.

"CHRISTOPHER W. (Chris) BOONE" wrote:

Kevin,
I disagree with your comments below....
You are allowed to disagree....doesn't mean you're right.

1) the Repeater remailer (now at Onelist) was started for
just the reasons you state below...WHY duplicate things???
As a list user for many years (of the Original RptrOWN@...
and now Repeater@...), I find this a little confusing..

2) Denying those with Juno or similar email clients is IMHO
discrimination and without cause.....
Well some people who subscribe through Juno and other non html based
email systems can't receive html, images, and attachments. I am NOT
discriminating. They themselves are.. if they choose to use this type
email system. This is THEIR choice not mine. (BTW My page states SHOULD
NOT .....not DO NOT.) Should not is a suggestion, Do not is
discrimination. I do not feel my list is duplication.

3) Sending file attachments THROUGH a remailer is poor practice.
It doesn't help the server any! Thats why MOST remailers donot
allow it
Well.... the server I use DOES allow it. I conversed with the technical
team before I started this list. They had no problem.

.....take a 1 Meg file.....times 300 users....you get
the point!....the server then spends more time sending out files
and that can put a strain on the system......send a file
ONLY to those who want it...not the entire remailer!
Myself and others have sent pix and html through the server. I did not
hear anyone complain. If people would not have wanted or or liked this
style mailer, WHY do I have 62 subscribers in a mere 6 days?

True, Onelist is a commercial site but still setting up a remailer
to "hawk" web pages is just a waste of bandwidth..
thats what posting URL's on the current remailer is for...
sending entire web pages and other graphics is a waste of
bandwidth and time...
You are missing the point. What can I say?? You know your self that
running a mail server is work. I am not twisting anyone's arm to join.
If this mail server helps one person understand something about
repeaters, I'll feel better.

Another thing on Wasting the servers resources, The server I use does
NOT store the actual images and does NOT store the messages
indefinitely. That's why you should not join in the Digest mode. So...
if a person emails a couple of words and a picture to help some
understand a problem, what is then actually stored, (and tying up system
resources?) not much. Certainly a whole lot less than a thousand word
letter. I know myself that if I had a picture to send along with an
explanation, the person on the other end would have understood the
matter completely, and subsequent emailings would have been unnecessary.
Example: The deemphasis circuit, through a resistor and a cap to
ground. A small gif would eliminate any question.

Another point is the use of HTML in an email. This list I run allows the
use of html based email, and is another reason I started it. You are
bashing the use of images, or forwarding a web page in an email
posting, But you don't allow it on YOUR list. I believe you exact words
are "NO FILE ATTACHMENTS allowed..." now who's discriminating?

The use of html based email allows the use of emphasis on lettering and
so forth.

BTW there IS a Land Mobile Radio remailer on Onelist that has
been here for some time....it deals with commercial rptrs
and other systems....I find it interesting someone started a
twoway list...(another spliting of resources)..
Maybe they didn't like yours?

Also I bet you'll get no posting on the ACC list at Linkcomm
with your msg.....they don't like CC'ed mailings...
Oh well....

Just my $.02

Chris

Thank you......
Kevin

PS, You ARE welcome to join.

Trunking

Anybody on this list doing any trunking with ham repeaters?? If you are, what
kind of format are you using, controller, radios etc ?? the 900mhz band would
be the best band to do it, alot of commercial equipment out there for that
band..

Dave, and All on the list,

Thanks to Rich Reese WA8DBW we now have an Astron RS-12A schematic. This new
page can be seen by going to the Astron page at
Click on the RS-12A link.

The RS-12A page goes to a printable jpg file. This file is a thumbnail and
has been reduced in color and size for printing. Click on the image for

I would need transmit and receive (a minimum of one set right now, though I
have a stack of the beasts and might eventually want to do something with the
lot). I'm making an attempt at building a 2-meter repeater out of two of
them.

I've heard from several people that, as long as there are not temperature
extremes, you don't need a channel element as the crystal will plug directly
into the radio without the element. Maybe I could build a "heater" using a
thermister -- I'll have to check my manual -- which I received in today's mail
-- and see.

Thanks.
I'll check and see if I can come up with some. If I don't reply about this in a
couple of days and you don't receive any other offers, Please remail (jog my
memory) My forgetter has been working overtime lately.

Image file size should be no greater than 100k

Kevin,
I have a jpg image of the RS-12 but it is about 195K! If you wish I can

Rich, Go ahead and send it. The guy was eager to get his PS working. I'll
decrease color or resize if possible, if not... that's ok too. I want to get
something to him. We can perfect the one I post on the rbtip site at a later
date. Thanks .... kkc

Re: GE ICOM's

mch

Yes, you can interchange them, but you can never use an EC element with
a 2C. The temperature compensation for an EC *must* come from a 5C
element. The 2C only compensates itself.
