Re: RT systems drivers

They should be using the FTDI chipset - drivers for most/all OS are here:

If for some reason Prolific - then here, not really drivers but configuration data blobs for Windows: ?

A little bit of information folks ought to be aware of relative to USB serial port implementations, vs the original 8250/19650 UAR/Ts and RS-232 built into some PC chipsets: ?

There is a lot of software that will run in "Compatibility Mode. Always worth a try.

Hi,

Does anyone know of a good resource to find WIN XP drivers for RT
Systems cables? Tried their web site, however all options for downloads are not available.

Thanks,

I did, they told me to go online, I found the driver section, but everything was great out and not available to click on. Plus, they didn't think they would work with Windows XP.

Re: Isolated Tee

My iso tee / RF sampler arrived today.?
?
Is this a good way to measure & set the attenuation? I put the sampler on my KC901J. Then put a 50 ohm load on the bnc sample side. Then fully 2 port calibrated the cable & tee connector with my keysight calibration set.
?
?After that I moved the narda 50 ohm load to the other direct RF port of the tee. Then hooked port two onto the bnc sample side. Then adjusted the slide to vary & set the attenuation to 50db just for now.?

FS: two Kenwood TKR-850 and 851 UHF

Kenwood TKR-851. Basically a TKR-850V2 but lower power.? Cover 70cm band and will tune to your frequency.? $600 shipped?
?
Kenwood TKR-850 V1.? Cover 70cm band and will tune to your frequency.? $550 shipped.??
?
Both of these are the repeater units *only*. There is no rack mount case.? Both work perfectly.

Re: Flat Audio - Motorola

Even in Flat audio mode, the TX side begins to hard rolloff at about 2600 hz.?? At 3000 you're down 3db and it drops quickly from there.? No external filters are needed.?? It's flat from 20-2600.

Also worth noting, and I've found a ton of conflicting information on the site regarding flat TX audio with these radios, you must use pin 5 on the accessory port for TX audio if you expect to have flat audio. Pin 2 is commonly suggested to be used for speech or normal audio from a controller. However, the audio out of the transmitter is pre-emph'd regardless of the "TX Flat Audio Input" setting. I mistakenly thought that setting it to post (not "pre) meant no pre-emphassis on any TX input on the accessory port. This is not the case. If you use pin 2 it's Pre-emph'd period!.?
?
I've moved over to using pin 5 with the RSS External Accessory menu item "TX Flat Audio Input" set to "pre". Not seeing any overshoot or excessive deviation at higher frequencies. I'll double-check again today.

Thanks for your suggestion!

Re: Sinclair 2037 multicouplers with 220 kHz spacing

Yes, reduce the notch depth of the 144.61 c2037. ?If you do want to tx on the 144.39, then you will need at least 2 Q cans on the 144.39 equipment side and 3 Q cans on the 144.61 to notch out each others carrier and noise. I have no idea on the isolation requirements of those radios at 220 kHz separation. Don¡¯t forget to do an intermod analysis because the 2 unknown to us high band pairs.?

Re: Flat Audio - Motorola

The flat IOs are for data use....to use the tx flat input for voice, it needs to be limited and filtered externally to prevent overshoot of deviation and bandwidth on squelch noise / noisy signals. I?use the circuit in the SCT110/410 Spectrum transmitters....change the 0.0047 cap on the input to a 4.7uf for no preemphasis..simple ckt and works excellent

Sorry,? I found "External Accessories" in the menu. Within the configuration window, I found "Rx Audio Output" was set to "De-emphasized". According to the help menu, it says EIA processes the TX and RX audio and restricts it to 300Hz -3KHz. and conversely, when "FLAT" is selected, there is no processing and limiting can be bypassed. Looking a bit closer. Looks like that may only be valid on pin 5 of the accessory connector and not pin 2. I'm using pin 2, and the transmit audio is being pre-emph'd!? Argh!
