Re: GE Mastr II Transmit drops after 3-4 seconds

Sounds like you are losing your TX OSC Control +10V.? You can watch that line in the fold down tray on the exciter pin header with a volt meter.

If that is is case remove the power supply card and put a clip lead on the cathode side of the red TX LED, reinstall and touch the clip lead to ground.?

If you loose the TX OSC +10, you have a problem with U1 or Q1. If the TX OSC stays steady at +10 with the clip lead then I would suspect Q5 of going weak.

I can usually find good deals on eBay.

the Symptom is the same if I key the transmitter using the slide RMT PTT switch in the 10v card so it is not the controller.

The isolator is likely doing little to keep the FM out of the repeater transmitter.? Isolators only provide a significant degree of directivity within a fairly narrow range.? Given the wide frequency differential, bandpass filtering is your friend in this case, both as far as your repeater goes as well as the proposed packet station.? Given that packet is single-frequency that makes things that much easier.

Re: Packet Node at an FM Broadcast site

97.5 sounds more like it.? The reason people are asking for the frequencies is to run an intermod program to see if your 146.100 receiver is going to get hit, or if any other intermod problems might exist in the two meter band.?

Running 97.5, 146.700, and 145.01 Mhz. – you don’t have any hits in the band, and specifically on the repeater input.

As Chris Boone said, put a pass filter on the packet radio and you should be just fine.?

The only other advise is maximize the vertical space between the repeater antenna and the packet antenna.? 20 feet or more vertical separation would be best just to insure the packet transmitter stays out of the repeater receiver.

The FM station is like 96.4, the repeater is 146.700 and the packet station is yet to be determined, but somewhere in the packet sub band 144.9 - 145.9. Thanks for all the information I'll start looking in the archives.
