The mods to use SpectraTAC voters with COR are well-documented on the repeater-builder web site and elsewhere.GE voters are even easier.Everybody keeps talking about mods to the GE voter. E&M signalling is standard on them, even the old grey ones. So voter tone isn't needed if you have a relay closure or other good switching. |
Re: Multiple repeaters sharing a common power supply - pros and cons
Our repeaters are all under a single radio club and everyone is a team player, so I don't anticipate any political issues.? I was nervous about sharing a single power system among multiple repeaters, but now I am beginning to get more comfortable with the idea.
I am using a 30A Iota power supply in my home station, and I love it.? No more need for a changeover switch and the accompanying voltage drop.? We will definitely need to consider replacing our existing repeater supplies with an Iota supply. BTW, I once contacted Iota technical support to ask about adjusting the output voltage.? I got very good, prompt support.? The answer was "You can, but it voids the warranty.".? They even sent me instructions on how to do it. Thanks to everyone for the thoughtful comments and good advice. |

I have to sit down and figure out the per unit price, but I probably won't be able to compete with the price point once labor is factored in. On Wed, Nov 16, 2022 at 6:05 PM Chris Boone <setxtelecom@...> wrote:

Re: GE MSTR 2 special (Factory Repeater?) FREE
If there were an old Moto/GE lowband or hiband radio that would run on 6 Volts and was nearby me.....? I have a 1957 Jeep FC-170 that is still 6 volts and a vintage radio would go well in it.? :-) Eric WB6TIX On Wed, Nov 16, 2022 at 8:07 PM Jim W7RY via <jimw7ry=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Two UHF repeaters sharing the same antenna.
Joe, just as I mentioned in the previous post, it was all off of one DB420. I teed off the feed line with the six can rackmount notch duplexer. I'm trying to remember exactly how I had it tuned but I know I had the first cavity off the tee set to notch the opposite receive frequencies so there would be no suck out on the frequency. And I think the other two were set to notch the opposite transmitters. It was like 20 years ago and it's hard to remember nowadays ? Chris WB5ITT? Any idea on the price, Matt? The current price of the RTCM is expensive for several sites, even with $100 off for the ham price.. like most hams I try to be cheap ? Chris WB5ITT? On Wed, Nov 16, 2022, 2:52 PM DCFluX <dcflux@...> wrote:

Re: GE MSTR 2 special (Factory Repeater?) FREE
Sure, Frank, it might be fun to play with as I have not seeing this model.? Please run over to the web site and send me your email or number. There's enough amateurs going to Spokane that could bring it. Or I can met half way...........
Remember the Motorola version for off-grid sites, using a pair of MX portable radios?? I've build several clones. -- - Regards, Karl Shoemaker To contact me, please visit SRG's web site at? for the current email address. |

Re: Occupied bandwidth - (was Windows 7 config)
So, now that we have progressed from occupied bandwidth to SPD and on to ACPR, we have identified the test method that will give us a true indication of how good a neighbor a system is.
Anyone who modifies their transmitter filtering for whatever purpose - extended frequency response or data / digital voice transmission - should measure the before and after ACPR. This is a documented test method, commercial best practice and thus should also be amateur best practice. I would be very interested to see the test results for any of these projects that list members have worked on - please post them. |

I once had two Quantars on UHF sharing one antenna...one on 451.5 xmit and the other on 444.5 xmit.. took a 6 can notch only duplexer and some careful tuning..the 449.5 side had about 7 db loss which I probably could have tuned better and got less loss...WA5VDM, who owned a Motorola MSS, said if I could do that with two Quantars, I could do it with anything ?.. couldn't argue with success though.. spectrum analyzer showed it clean with both xmtrs keyed up. |
Re: Two UHF repeaters sharing the same antenna.
What you are looking for is a combiner.
We do it all the time 4 or 5 transmitters on one antenna. To understand how it works take a look at EMR's article on it. https://emrcorp.com/understanding-hybrid-filter-transmitter-combiners/ -- Joe Orrico? WB6HRO / WR6AAC Repeater System |
