Uhhh beacon IDing, etc is illegal under part97..several repeaters have gotten emails from Riley about it.
As to the SLR, why did you do that? The SLR drops tone with the tx so what you did was something that was totally useless and unneeded. I don't understand why you did all that with the gpio.

Our club's VXR7000 died, so we upgraded to a loaned SLR-8000 (good to have friends in low places) to get us back on the air. Luckily everything came on as programmed and I couldn't have done it better myself if I had planned it.. lol
I do have one issue though. The controller is programmed to not send PL during ID, so that someone can turn on PL decode and leave their radio up without hearing the ID and grandfather clock on the hour. We used a TS64 before to decode/encode PL, but we took it out of the chain and are going direct to the SLR. Everything is working fine except for that one feature. I wired up GPIO9 (pin 6) to Pin 1 (CTCSS Control) and enabled TX PL Inhibit on GPIO9, but it seems like with it assigned, it permanently inhibits PL, even if I flip from High to Low functionality on the repeater. Is there something I'm missing or is my way of thinking not possible?
Also, those that have used the SLR, what should you have the Audio Type set as? Wanted to make sure I have it correct.

Turn off the processor.
Some older radios have one mic gain as a knob adjustment. The level for SSB is different than FM.
A cheap SDR watching the audio spectrum and zoom in on RF spectrum can assist getting FM deviation to 3KHz at 1KHz tone

My iso tee / RF sampler arrived today.?

Is this a good way to measure & set the attenuation? I put the sampler on my KC901J. Then put a 50 ohm load on the bnc sample side. Then fully 2 port calibrated the cable & tee connector with my keysight calibration set.

?After that I moved the narda 50 ohm load to the other direct RF port of the tee. Then hooked port two onto the bnc sample side. Then adjusted the slide to vary & set the attenuation to 50db just for now.?

Even in Flat audio mode, the TX side begins to hard rolloff at about 2600 hz.?? At 3000 you're down 3db and it drops quickly from there.? No external filters are needed.?? It's flat from 20-2600.

I've discovered that the RKR1225 / Specta series radio RSS setting allows you to select "post" or "pre" limiting for the TX audio path for flat inputs on the accessory port.?

Not familiar with the spectrum radios. Where is the cap? In series with the TX audio input to the transmitter?

Also worth noting, and I've found a ton of conflicting information on the site regarding flat TX audio with these radios, you must use pin 5 on the accessory port for TX audio if you expect to have flat audio. Pin 2 is commonly suggested to be used for speech or normal audio from a controller. However, the audio out of the transmitter is pre-emph'd regardless of the "TX Flat Audio Input" setting. I mistakenly thought that setting it to post (not "pre) meant no pre-emphassis on any TX input on the accessory port. This is not the case. If you use pin 2 it's Pre-emph'd period!.?

I've moved over to using pin 5 with the RSS External Accessory menu item "TX Flat Audio Input" set to "pre". Not seeing any overshoot or excessive deviation at higher frequencies. I'll double-check again today.
