Chris,
You will have to get the Motorola control shelf. The shelf contains all
the audio gating, control, frequency/PL prom, and firmware. For those
other features, I suggest getting another controller to interface into
the MSF. The MSF is not the easiest box to interface with. You may need
to purchase a wildcard and aux shelf to get some of the functions i/o. I
have a digital station that I interfaced to which required the wildcard.
I don't know what your level of knowledge is, but I can say Its not a
project for beginners.
Regards,
Rich

i need a control shelf for a msf5000 vhf repeater and do i need to use
the tln2423a by mot?, or can i go with one from connect systems? If i
go with the one by mot, does it have autopatch, tone control, etc or
do i have to purchase those seperatly?
if i go with a different model rather than mot, will it still be able
to be programed to work properly?
I do need some help in this matter and your help is very much
appricatied.
