Re: 6 meter repeater..

John Hackman

Actually, at 6M receiver sensitivity is not an issue unless there's been a
lightning strike - the real thing to look for is, which if either unit has
an RF noise blanker? The Motorola "Extender" is a terrific noise blanker
that will remove all but the most horrendous of impulse noises that
otherwise would destroy weaker received signals. I expect GE has something
similar, but I don't know what it's called. This will make a very great
difference in the operation of your repeater.

I'd use the Mitrek - why beat your brains out building fan cooling, etc.

the GE's and then have the recurring expense of replacing the driver and

up a deep cycle marine battery and an el cheapo battery charger to the
Mitrek.
That's the kind of information I was after. I thought having
tube outputs would make it tougher? Only the old Master (1?)
base unit has tubes, the Master II (mobile) is solid state.

Any comment on RX sensitivity over the Master II, and the Mitrek?
The donor Master II is still on 42.something, so I can't
really do a fair evaluation, unless they are both inband,
but I don't want to waist time (money) on rocking the MasterII
if the Mitrek is more sensitive.

Thanks for the help...
