I would definitely try external DC power. That will rule out the internal switching supply (but not the board that sits on top of it, I believe it's called the filter board).?
Does the repeater power cycle immediately or only after the transmitter unkeys? Stray RF getting in to the microprocessor is a thought - try running the TX port to a 50 ohm load and see if the condition persists (if you haven't already). The above tests should push you in the right direction.?

Our club has a Vertex VXR-7000 VHF repeater that has recently developed a problem. Whenever it finishes transmitting, it always power cycles. This happens both in remote mode with two different controllers (Arcom RC-210 and RLC Club Deluxe II), as well as operating in local mode without a controller.
I¡¯ve read where this might be an issue with the power supply. As of right now, we are running it off AC power. The thought crossed my mind of hooking it up to the big 70amp Astron up there with the Battery terminals on the Vertex and seeing if that cures the issue.
