Re: Astron RM-50M conversion

I have not used the Astron supply in many years. Switched to a GE mastr ll repeater with power supply.? We had problems with the Astron going in to crowbar protection when the power would flicker off and on fast.? That is one reason that I installed a time delay relay. Hated to go to the repeater every time we had a storm just to cut the Astron off for a few seconds and back on to reset the over voltage protection.

Thanks Ralph,?

This has been my concern lately, we have had several power "flashes" while storm repairs have been in progress. The one I bought is on Amazon made by Omron (another good brand I have used professionally), thanks again for the info. I was at one of our sites the other day and had the power flash and heard the relays all chatter, knowing full well that cant be good for everything down stream.?

It was a standard plug in time delay relay made by Allen Bradly.? Has a knob on the top of it that let you set the time to pull in after the line voltage came back.? That is the relay has its own built in timer. They can be bought to delay the dropout or the pull in time. For the dropout you do have to have an external source of voltage? so that is why I went with the pull in time.? Prevents short cycling if he power just flickers a few times.
