Yes, Bob, compared with the Grey KMC 27 mic, the black KMC35 mic does sound good. I am being picky. To me the gold standard mic audio is a Motorola SyntorX/ X9000 with the cap closest to the mic cord on the mic board changed from 0.047 MF to 0.33MF. The Kenwood 0.068MF cap deletion will bring a TKX90 radio close to that, but, if going through a repeater, the repeater audio needs to be flat from 300-2800 cps and no compression or clipping, to notice the improvement with the Kenwood mic mod, probably not the way Kenwood would have you set up a repeater.
