Re: allstar node as a replacement to RLC or SCOM

I have an RLC-4 controller that has been running two repeaters for 26 years without a hiccup. The RF links to it have been extremely reliable - running for years with no attention. I cannot say the same for Allstar linking which usually needs attention on a weekly basis - typically one or more reboots every week or so. Just saying...

you may loose internet access to link to other sites but your allstar will still keep going as a repeater controller.? Allstar and hamvoip do not need the internet except for connecting to others outside your LAN. Please research before you tell someone about it.? I know of a system on 900 Mhz running allstar with no internet.

Doug,
There are ways to simplify what your looking for, but keep in mind that the RLC-3\Club line is a stand-alone controller, as is SCOM and because of that, when the internet goes down, so do your links.? I'm not sure how the system your talking about functions w/o the computer running/internet available, but when the users need communications, especially when major large area problems happen, its the RLC's and SCOM controller that will be running.? I hope your system works great, sounds like fun, which is what Amateur Radio is all about!
